If Europe happens, either next season or the one after, we'll need someone to help rotate and rest. I think grab Defoe when Sunderland get relegated.
It's where Anichebe was actually worth his crust one would argue. Arguably time for DCL to step up and earn his.

The lad has the right attitude. He runs his socks off but unfortunately the ability just isn't there. There was this episode today where in the space of 5 seconds 3 times he didn't know what to do with the ball. Excellent opportunity for DCL to step up.
The incident when he was running through, and RB and KM were free to run in on the left and he passed it to the right made me think no football brain , as the right hand side had most of Sunderland's defenders there -also his one on one he never looked like scoring hit it on an angle admittingly straight at the keeper - taking the magical Tom Davis off for him was a mystery!

Bizarre as it seems to suggest, his future is wrapped up with Niasse and to an extent how DCL does on his return from injury.

He isn't strong enough to lead the line on his own but his endeavour as a second striker suggests he's happy to play a support role. I can't see us forking out the full fee at the end of the loan, he just hasn't done enough to justify that outlay. On the flip side a financial return from Hull or another on Niasse certainly helps subsidise a second striker purchase who is happy to play second fiddle to Rom. Just not sure it's Valencia, despite his endeavour - Naismith did the same job more effectively.

So, up to DCL to stake a claim, he can hold a ball up and has youth on his side. It's a position we need to fill and a call for Koeman. On current performances I can't see the return on the outlay. Up to the player to prove me wrong.

I like him.

I don't know if i like him because what the presence of a second striker does for Rom's game (mainly the extra freedom he gets), or because I actually like Valencia. He tries hard, he causes problems and I think if he was given an actual half decent run in the team, he'd be good. Certainly best second option we have atm.

If we could get him for like £5-7m i'd do it. He's got the pace too, which is hugely important.

I agree . Ironically I was personally not a fan at the outset, but his performances have won me over. When he came on today he gave Sunderland problems and gave us fresh legs upfront. He should have scored, but even so I think some of the criticism on here is a bit harsh.
Is he the answer going forward? Probably not. I believe Calvert-Lewin will be our back up if he can seize his chance when he returns. But I wouldn't mind Valencia in the squad to be honest.
