Funny you bring this up.. I was in an Ireland airport and got a wallet, or (bill fold) *whatever you limey's call it* I show it off to my yankee friends and they think it's awesome.. It's just a fecking wallet, but it dont matter to them, it's from Ireland..lol

All i get from my American relatives is, "send me a Shillelagh" I say why? it's a fuc*ing stick? Go get some branch and make one ffs.

what game were you watching? the yanks took it to the redcoats for the whole first half (minus the goal from gerrard)... USA played their game-plan perfectly - solid result.
Can't argue with that. I thought the Americans were better in the first half. Bradley looked composed and could have a big future. Gerrard was our best player to be fair. Rooney hardly had a touch first half and decided to drop back in the second half and looked a cut above. Lampard pushed up a bit too and that helped us control the midfield more with a bit more precision in the passing. Johnson was great in the second half. Just as well coz Cole didn't get foreward and apart from one pullback from the byeline, Lennondid fcuk all and Wright Phillips did even less

Heskey was by far and away our best player. Always said I would play Heskey up top Rooney every time. He gets the little flicks and touches that NO ONE else gets, and he spreads defenders allowing space for whoever hes playing up front with. Yeah he doesnt get enough goals, but he does so much more than what people think.

<sigh> in the end the USA over-performed and England under-performend... point to each and 2 more tough games to go.

I thought the Americans really deserved their result. It was up to England and Capello to find a way around the tactics they were likely to adopt. They didn't though, and in the end could have lost the game.

I really hope England pulls a reslult against the remaining two in the group... and USA needs a result agaisnt the remaining sides as well.

hopefully the other squads aren't able to shut down wayne rooney like the USA were...

This...

England is def my #2 team and I'm kind of glad this game is over. I'd like to see a couple of England blowouts over the 2 'anias so that all the Eng fans can cheer up a bit and we can get back to being one big, happy family

My two cents:

First, I did not see the first half since I was at work, kept stopping back to the one TV on and the idiots did not even have the WC on! But, I saw the second half. England dominated but the US defense kept them in the game.

Second, the US was lucky with that Dempsey goal, but he shot and scored. He took advantage of his opportunity, and was fortunate.

Third, the US did not play up to Confederation Cup standards, but they lacked Davies who is a great player, has great pace, and plays well with Altidore. The US fielded a team that probably only Howard could have made the English side. So, I am not going to call them crap, because they came in the underdogs and came away with a point. They played a great side that underpreformed.

Fourth, The US defense was supposed to be the achilles heel of the US team, and they played well, Howard, extremely well, and "that guy from Watford, Demerit is his name and he was great. Rooney will remember his name. Gooch played himself into game shape as the match progressed, and Dolo was great.

Fifth, The US, one commentator said that the US side is better as a team, then as individual players. They have heart and endurance. They kept their heads down and got a tie. I am not sad in that I really did not expect even a tie.

Sixth, I agree with another poster in that I would not have started Clark, but Torres, and would also have started Buddle, who is a better player than Findlay. Findlay just has pure speed. Also Donovan had a quiet game, but I saw a lot of moves that he made away from and with the ball that kept his team in the hunt. He is a class player, but would not have made the English team.
Sixth,

Ok. I just finished watching the game and reading this thread.

My thoughts:

England were [Poor language removed]. USA was ok but could have done massively better. The problem with England is that they are not disciplened. They need to hire Mourinho. Bradley needs to put Dempsey up top with Altidore and put Holden in his spot on the wing. Also he needs to replace Clark with Torres. I think we'd play a lot better. Cherundolo was brilliant tonight imo. Our defense was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

Green is [Poor language removed].

Massive result for USA USA!! We came in for the draw and we got it. Now England can't piss away the final match and that is very big.

Bradley just took a massive dump on Capello. Capello was a stark raving lunatic when they had a 1-0 lead and his subsitutions were idiotic. England's tactics were completely [Poor language removed]. The way to beat the US is to be direct (which is one thing Englands does well) attack right up the middle and to keep the ball on the ground. Our defensive strength is handling the airal game and time after time you just delievered cross after cross into the box which Gooch and DeMerit easily cleared. Didn't anyone notice that all of England's quality scoring opportunites came from keeping the ball on the ground (so naturally I guess the smart thing to do is to bring on the wet noodle Crouch and hoof it to him late)? As far as the statement that Euro coaches are soooooooo much better well I haven't seen a European coach who doesn't pick a lineup based on the club shirt the player wears. Carragher isn't good enough to play CB for the US anymore (would anyone on Watford trade DeMerit, an unfit player with limited depth perception for Carragher right now?). He's just there because he plays for the RS. There is no excuse for leaving Jags off the squad and/or Upson off the field.

Bradley on the other hand for the most part did every right. Remember the mission was to get a draw. Torres was left off for Clark and while Torres could have supplied Donovan more maybe we would have lost something in defense. Clark did let Gerrard get free but was solid for the rest of the match and kept Rooney in check.

Oh and as far US being "lucky" well maybe we were fortunate to get the goal. However England was fortunate that Green "saved" Altidore's shot on goal. England was also lucky that Carragher didn't get sent off (though in fairness you might have done better) and if the ref was a bit more card happy Milner could have also got sent off. Our best player, Howard, showed up tonight and was a leader. Rooney on the other hand was reduced to whining b/c he couldn't unlock 2 unfit CBs.

Spot on that. While I did not agree with BB lineup in leaving off Torres and Buddle, I was surprised at how well Dolo, Gooch and Demerit played. They took on Rooney and gave him little, and Howard was a god in goal. BB needs to start Buddle and leave Findlay as a sub coming in with speed to burn, and hoping that he can finish. Not unhappy, but if only with Altidore. He is, though looking like he could improve with more games under his belt. He just turned 21 a day or so ago. Commentators were listing him at 20. I thought he had a BD recently. I hope both England and US go through.....Hoping

Findley's job was to stretch the England defense wide and get Altidore one-on-one. Altidore has proven for the USMNT that he can outmuscle any player one-on-one off the ball but he can't handle a double team and I think Findley's presence helped in that respect. So I understood the rationale for putting him in. The onus will be on us to score the next couple matches so Buddle for Findley and Torres for Clark might be good. Let's wait and see. So far Bradley has been pretty spot on with lineups and who to sub in since the Egypt in the CC so I'm at the point where I have to trust what he's doing now.
