I think the South African World Cup killed off any remaining interest in England football for me. What an inept bunch of malingerers. I can't even remember what we did in Brazil - who'd have thought that a world cup in Brazil wouldn't capture the imagination?

To be honest Italia 90 was the last high note, and it's been a downhill slide since. I just had a look at a list of tournament hosts, and had completely forgot about France (and I was working in France at the time!) and Japan/ S. Korea and thought the USA one had happened in the 80s even. It's certainly a bit of a none event. Maybe if we had a decent set of players and someone other than that drip of a manager and pizza advertiser Southgate in charge it would be different. We truly are awful.

And don't get me started about the plastic chair throwing scruffs who think that they are expressing the true bloodline of some imperial force that everyone should bow down before.
