Elstone Interview.

Really can't argue with much that he said.

However, I'm not a cynic like a few we have here on GOT who think that anytime, someone from the Everton brass are speaking, that they're automatically lying.

I understand that Screech...

Again, what's set me off is that everything he's "upping" about the store applies tenfold to the ground issue and Kirkby has none of them mate.

I do understand what you are saying, but I doubt Elstone said visibility is the MAIN reason to have a city centre store. It's a nice bonus (and basically it's his job in those interviews to list every single positive about every single thing), but the ONLY vital benefit of the store is that it makes money. If it loses money, it will be shut down, not matter what the visibility. If the most profitable place to locate the store was behind the toilets in St Helens town centre, the store would be there. Visibility is a lucky add on.

Basically what Elstone said there is totally true, and I don't see any contradiction.

(Obviously, this is a totally seperate issue from the stadium; let's not go there in every thread)

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't

Elstone can't win on DK. If he says anything on DK, Davek (y)et al will instantly accuse him of dividing the fan base. If he stays silent he's accused of "giving up on DK" and "Not saying anything because he's lost".

Wise counsel is to say nothing because, basically, he can't do anything until the Governmet make their decision, so let sleeping dogs lie until they bring the rabbit home.

Whatever our views on DK, we should welcome Everton One and Two as they are postiive developments.

"Theres an awful lot of work going on, we are talking to a number of players, a number of clubs and chairmen, we're in constant dialogue with the manager"

Wyness June 08

"We know the manager and his targets but a lot of things have to happen to get deals for the types of players we are looking for. Every day we are on the phone."

Elstone June 09

"but, you know, we absolutely recognize the need to strengthen, we are fiercely ambitious as everyone would expect us to be and everyone understands that we are, and if you're fiercely ambitious it's going one step further than 5th and going one step further than an FA Cup final."

Wyness June 08

Wyness last month confirmed that the Everton board would back up manager David Moyes’ call for the investment he needs to build on Everton’s progression in the Premier League in the past two years. Finishes of sixth and fifth in successive seasons have ensured Uefa Cup qualification and Moyes is currently working on securing the targets that will give him a fighting chance of maintaining, and even improving on, those standards.

Elstone June 09

Ronaldos transfer will raise prices across Europe, says that players like Glen Johnson being touted at £17m are proof of that

Wyness June 08

“The whole transfer market, each one is different in terms of the mood and tempo. It’s a slow market."

.....he's Wyness' protege, what did you expect? New excuses?

Lolz... hiya Happy!(y)

There's nothing to be happy or sad about. It's just underlining it's business as usual. The 'Elstone's a big improvement on Bully' line is probably the most naive statement doing the rounds.

It's a good job I'm here.

Oh come on

Everton 2 vs ????

Ghana and American project vs ?????

Kitbag + LCS vs Umbro + JJB, no brainer

Season tickets rising right up, he's working on promotions to fill out the stadium. Can't remember much of that from Wyness.

I know you can't stand complimenting the Everton board and backroom staff but jesus

Oh come on

Everton 2 vs ???? 2 shops opened one either side of the Mersey

Ghana and American project vs ????? projects in Ireland and Thailand

Kitbag + LCS vs Umbro + JJB, no brainer Why? The LCS deal (£3M pa) compares less favourably with some of our nearest competitors.

Season tickets rising right up, he's working on promotions to fill out the stadium. Can't remember much of that from Wyness. Was Wyness around after the world recession took hold?

Those things you highlight as improvements are a CEO's basic job. It's how they earn their corn. It's not a leap beyond what Wyness was doing.

Agree absolutely. Football fans have long considered themselves experts on football (knowing far more than the manager), but recently they are experts on the CEO role too.

Elstone seems a more personable guy, and is certainly bigger on communication with fans, so people obviously like him more. But that's it.

Yeah, thank god for that!

No offense, but everything you post on here seems to have a negative spin on it. You say "It's just underlining it's business as usual", but it sounds more like you criticizing a member of the Everton hierachy. Again. (n)

He is, He always does. That's just his thing. Every club has is constant optimists, constant pessimists and constant critics.

Thats just the fan base Phil. Yes, Dave is always trying to put a negative spin on things, but thats just him. He seems like a nice lad at heart. Just cries a lot (couldn't resist Dave, sorry :P:P)

No offense, but I couldn't care less if I'm pigeon holed along those lines.

By the way, that Everton hierarchy deserve all they get. They're what's standing in the way of the club being Champions League regulars for the past three seasons, and I defy anyone to contradict the validity of that view. We're primed for a big push and we dont have the logistics. That's down to them. They've tread water at best since taking control almost a decade ago, attracting zero investment in that time, and have merely rearranged the deckchairs to provide a miserly net spending for the manager to compete with the elite four. It's just short of criminal what they've gotten away with.

To be fair, and to respond to your charge, I wouldn't include the likes of Wyness and Elstone in that criticism. They're hired hands paid to bark the party line. The pair of them have a history of staying in a post for three years max and then moving on to the next fire fighting job. I'm sure they'd do a great job if Everton were already a success in CL terms. But we're not, and their function is to carry out the board's plan to manage the situation (keep everyone jollying along) until a stadium decision is made.

No offence taken, mate. As you say, we all have our point of view. Apparently for some, though, you cant have one. Or rather, you can have one, but then they reserve the right to respond to any point made by saying 'that's all you post about'. Ho hum. (y)

I love Daveyboy, he tells it how it is. He thinks like me, he sees what is holding us back and he isnt blinded by 5th place finishes and FA Cup Finals. He adopts the same Bullseye attitude as me.

If the board would spend some fricking money "LETS SEE WHAT YOU COULD HAVE WON".

The board have not invested 1 penny of their own money into the club. FACT
Certain memebers on the board have considerable funds they could invest. FACT
We will never be a success with the current board. FACT
Sooner or later, Moyes will get sick of that glass ceiling. FACT
Kirkby is a desperate attempt at making some money, for themselves. FACT
We are not for sale, Bill is only interested in keeping hold of his trainset and wants somebody to give him all the money and take no profit or indeed have any say in the running of the club. FACT

(Not so) sly dig dave?? Perhaps if you don't want to be pigeonholed or have people "respond to any point made by saying 'that's all you post about'" you should try lightening up and being a bit more positive every so often. You know what they say, variety is the spice of life!!

Then again, you don't care, so I doubt you'll feel the need to reply or refer to this in any of your further posts! :P

2+2=4 is a fact. Most of what you put up there is opinion and conjecture, or just plain rubbish. They arent the same thing lad.
Oh, and btw, putting '.Fact.' on the end of sentences (especially in bold) is completely idiotic. FACT.

See what I did there? You do don't ya. I must be some kind of feking genius or something! :)
