It used to be great.
Instant news/sport and a community to chat about it.
With the ability to moderate your own experience.
That really started to change last year and now its a mess.
To be fair, there are some really decent sub-communities within twitter. If I just used it for music, promoting my own stuff, interacting with other artists and fans it would be all cool. That side of it is great.
But I'm a sucker for shouting obscenities at tory supporters, notable world figures and following/chatting to other Evertonians, so most of the negativity I bring upon myself lol

Who you follow and interact with is going to (for the most part) shape your experience on there.

I also found Twitter useful in my field to find new published studies, conferences, workshops, and new colleagues etc. I also followed a lot of accounts that were quite funny.

That said, I don’t miss it as much as I thought I would and, for me, I did succumb to “doom scrolling” on occasion which then led me to feel extremely depressed about the world (there is good reason to be so, but scrolling endlessly on Twitter at 2am wasn’t helping me) so on balance I am personally fine with giving it up.

It was because of twitter that I re read Siegfried Sassoon, I wouldn't have been inspired to without someone randomly posting suicide in the trenches. I followed a link to the poem this morning and if you scroll to the comments you can see both the good and the bad of the Internet in a single kin page!
