If I wanted somebody to design a car that drives itself, I would go and speak to Tesla, if I wanted World Peace, I wouldnt go to somebody who owns a company that makes cars that drives itself.

I think he's a genius of self promotion. He was a good coder, parlayed existing wealth into more wealth, bought himself into a company that could fill a niche. Spitballed a load of concepts he paid people to make work and parlayed that into a number of loss making companies.

Every so often he floats a balloon for another mad idea to keep the stock price high, rinse and repeat.

For a very bright man who is good at marketing it is quite amazing Musk has squandered a lot of the goodwill/positive pr of providing Starlink (which tbf was a risky business decision) to Ukraine on a “peace plan” that looked like Putin had written it on a napkin.
