You're describing someone like Johnson who is a right wing popularity. I despise the bloke but never thought he's far right.

To me Musk does actually come across as far right wing. And given the right environment he will do bad things. He might not have a problem with Jews but he does have a problem with brown people and Muslims.

These guys are neo-feudalists. They want to be kings, without the obligations of kings.

It's just his views have changed so drastically that it makes me feel it's not a natural shift to the far right. When it comes to the economy, taxes etc he's obviously always been right wing but in terms of his social views etc he's changed quite drastically. He used to criticise Trump, post pro LGBT content when he was dating Grimes and so on.

I guess he could have been fully radicalised, I just can’t help but feel it’s all part of some power play. Perhaps I’m giving him too much credit.

San Francisco has been infected by the alpha dreams of nerds, and there are lots of influential dangerous voices in that mix. As you say, Thiel is up there, Yarvin has probably been a, or the major thought leader but there are loads of deranged thinkers. Another with crackpot ideas that would be best kept to role play is Balaji Srinivasan. Sadly he is another who is seen as a visionary by the tech power brokers. His book, "The Network State: How to Start a New Country" (2022) is another peak through the tech world window.

It’s quite common for people to constantly misuse nazi symbology, by accident. I’m doing it all the time.

Musk failing to understand that starship troopers is a satire, and the Neil Patrick Harris character ended up as a de facto SS officer.

Every single one of them is in an individual power play in some form and will lie and steal to do it.

They're not there to improve people's livelihoods, they're doing it to solidify their own financial legacies. They'll have 4 years, if they've not fallen out with each other, to absolutely benefit themselves and friends before walking away.

Won't even be surprising to watch Musk sign indefinite contracts on electric car manufacturing and space exploration where anything related to the two goes through him.
