We'll see how this tragic event plays out anyway. Didn't realise it's 5am already. Being a legal immigrant myself I sometimes lose track of time! 
You must realise that leaving a war torn region involves the possibility of not having a passport right? Even a lot of people in non war torn regions have no passport.
Yes processing needs to be swift and very well funded. The increased asylum seeking happened without adequte funding and infrastructure in place, likely because the increase was unprecedented in modern times.
Now nations know and should allocate accordingly because migration is going to continue at a high rate due to global warming with/without war.
As for blaming issues on immigration(always the easy targets), it is worth noting who it is that points the finger at them. Would those same people be for increased funding for humane processing or not? Those that are not, such as Trump, are usually xenophobes or racists

I used to think Valerie's Story from V for Vendetta was one of the saddest scenes in cinema I'd seen, but it feels like it could move from a work of fiction within years. Breaks my heart the way populism and social media has brought out such binary and horrid views. "Why did they hate us so much".
There is a 'daily hate' in 1984, and it seems Orwell was more prophetic than he could have ever known. Especially with the 'Telescreens'. Air strip one.

I've stopped arguing with them because it affects me knowing Evertonians are this way. Call me soft or a snowflake or whatever, but it's bloody saddening.
It's not just Evertonians. The green light has been given to a lot of seemingly repressed race rage. And the "I want my country back" shysters have ridden the wave. To make it full circle, I've been pointing out certain constabulary issues and the media frenzy around (and not) crimes occurring in the uk.
Some see a certain person kicked in and stamped upon his head as perfectly fine because 'he deserved it'. The two tier policing thing farage and anderson and trump push is starting to arrive on the tide, remember how it was apparently an asylum seeker that was responsible for the little girls stabbed to death in Southport in the summer? The focus on the woke bbc and similar that can't condemn the atrocities of israel and the maniac bloodthirsty bigots pushing military action there?
We're moments away from a Kristallnacht event, and a lot either can't see it, or don't care, or are actively pleased it's going this way. It's as if the 'martial law event' in South Korea wasn't the wake up required.
The good guys got complacent, the future was won, it'd be peace and a western democratic way of doing things forever, now sauron has returned, stronger than ever, and there's a lot of blood going to need to be spilt to defeat him this time round.
Anger and apathy to politics and politicians has encouraged this fiasco. And the environment keeps crumbling inviting an ever bigger event on.
Humanity deserves to go, give the earth back to the animals and let nature recover from industrialisation.
Also, a lot of people pay people to help them leave, and those people are often turds who steal their passports.

Buying Twitter to turn it into a right wing platform was one thing, owners using media companies to push a political ideology is nothing new.
But seeing how he’s essentially bought his way into a position of power in the US, and doesn’t seem content to stop there, and is actively courting Reform in the UK, and now AfD in Germany. He clearly has intentions to fund and enable right wing parties across the world and place himself alongside those parties as someone with, at the least influence, but more likely with actual decision making power.
People used to worry that secretive corporate entities, or foreign power was behind the scenes buying influence and directing policy, but it seems like there’s not even a need to do it secretly anymore, and there’s a widespread acceptance that this is fine.
