TBF there is a lot of sense in long-termism (certainly when posed against current governance) albeit probably not of the kind that Thiel and Musk propose (which sounds more like Rand-style heroic leader crap) and it would almost certainly require true and genuine cooperation on the global level amongst all peoples.

I mean, getting to level 1 on the Kardashev scale really would fix 99% of the worlds current problems, save tens or hundreds of millions of lives and improve the life of everyone on the planet - it would generate new problems too, but starting from a base of peace, solidarity and prosperity would give us the best possible chance of overcoming them.

I was reading about that just last month. It’s fascinating. There’s the argument that approaching level 1 could result in a Malthusian crisis. I can see us making the world uninhabitable before we get anywhere close to level 1.

Sadly that is as likely, in fact I’d argue that dealing with and resolving crises like that (and things like confrontation between states, blocs etc) is probably a requirement to get to a level one stage.

I've had a model 3 now for a month. Its not perfect in terms of technology, but I'm delighted with it as a car. I dont drive fast as a rule, but there are no laws about accelerating! Getting past the lycra brigade has become a breeze and has the added effect of scaring them shirtless as they often don't hear you coming (or don't care you're there).

I sent a few suggestions for improvements to Elon, fully expecting him to say - yeah good idea and become a mate, share a beer or two and then I talk him into following football, buying Sky, scrapping Sky, then buying Everton.

So far my plan hasn't got past the initial response from him, but its only been a month like.

I thought the same about range anxiety- I'm not easily made anxious. However you need to brace yourself that a claimed range of 300 miles will only be something like 260 miles in reality, 240 miles if its a fast motorway, 200 if its a fast motorway, or hilly and it's winter, 180 miles if there's a headwind too and 170 miles if you put the heating on, 160 if its raining or dark ....

Its the nit getting anything near what's claimed that bugs me ... not the anxiety of whether ill get where I want- thats easy with careful planning.

Tips hat to your attention to detail - but look ... I've just given up trying to correct my phone's auto correct. If I type "don't" it sometimes auto apostrophies for me ... other times it doesn't. It's and its ... well these days I'm just happy not to type uts - which my phone seems happy with, whereas other times it will happily replace perfectly good words with really obscure ones.

If I were sticking it on the side if a van for the whole world to see, however....
