Except you claimed to know more about AI than Elon Musk, or rather you understand AI better than Elon Musk. The chances of that being true are 0%.

I didn't say the first at all, and the second is answered best by asking why it is that Musk is on the same side as people who are arguing for what they are.

AI has massive potential for loads of areas - medicine, government services, mass surveillance, providing a sustainable abundance of food and energy, even porn - the side he has picked and backed will vigorously oppose all of them. I mean these are people who literally go on now about the government putting chips in people, something that he has invested a lot in trying to do.

I think the most extreme Musk has been over AI is saying that it is potentially dangerous. Emphasis on the word potentially. He also says AI comes with huge benefits, that the likelihood that AI is catastrophic for humanity is 20%(I think that's the % number Musk usually cites). This all seems to me like a fairly nuanced position from Musk, not the black & white you describe.

As for putting chips in people I think you are talking about Neuralink here. These chips are potentially allowing paraplegics the ability to use their limbs and giving blind people the ability to see. These benefits are, I think, a positive. That is unless you're against giving wheelchair bound individuals the ability to walk or allowing the blind the ability to see? That's not a side of this arguement I'd like to be on, but to each their own.

Would I want a government approved chip implanted so I can access Google or government services more effectively? Hell no!

What a strange post, and as for the “not a side of the argument you’d like to be on” that is in fact exactly the side you are on.

New Optimus robot info released today. The bot is now walking upstairs. Not bad for a two year old. Impressive. Thanks, Elon!

Edit; I should have said thanks to Elon and the team. Obviously Elon wasn't the one using a screwdriver and hammer to assemble the bot. He can't therefore be given major credit for the project.

I agree with the post below AND i think we could agree that if he sold either company he would make a massive profit?

Yes he would make a massive profit, which to me underlines the inanity of the market more than anything else.

Businesses exist to generate positive cash flows. I don't really see his businesses doing that.

He preys on thick people who drink the cool aid, and pay up for company's that don't produce value.

Look I may be old fashioned, but I prefer businesses that generate value and profits, and business people who do that, not those would would dilute me at insane valuation multiples.

Did Steve Jobs personally build the iPad or iPhone? No, but he was instrumental in getting these projects through. Musk is the driving force behind SpaceX's achievements. Two other high profile billionaire's have thrown vast cash at space flight, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson. Yet we aren't today congratulating Bezos or Branson for catching a big booster rocket on metal chopsticks. Why? Because they are not the same force of nature as Musk when it comes to tech or engineering.

Musk has a few years still to try and make twitter profitable. It's a big ask for sure and he may not ultimately succeed at X. However, Tesla and SpaceX are currently making so much money for Musk. Having around 15% of my portfolio in Tesla I hope Musk continues to succeed at the company.

No Jobs didn't to be fair.

It's always a "few years" to make profit. I prefer people who make profits now.

I give praise to people who add value, and grow profits for their shareholder base. Musk does the opposite.

I'm not surprised at all you're one of the lemmings who owns Tesla stock at all time peaks. Not surprised at all. It's about the clearest signal yet the market is euphoric and overpriced. Enjoy the crash and Musk further destroying your capital.
