Saw someone refer to it as “MAGA hat in car form”.

Utterly bizarre business decision to make your product toxic to your primary customers.

TBH, not sure that data shows anything other than vote share by density of county, since in general county density is a predictor of political party lean; it doesn't necessarily predict political leaning of Tesla owners, although that might be a correlative fact.

it's a power play thing, the football agent Riola did it too.

although, tbh, as annoying as a lot of the big tech people are. one thing i do like about the 'new guard' is the refusal to wear suits. can't stand them - well ties, blazers and shoes. I actually wear 'suit trousers' as normal day to day trousers with a sweat top and trainers, or something.

some say it's signaling, but maybe he just doesn't care (which is itself signaling), but also the dress code for techies is very very different. they don't trust people who dress normally.

I understand that DeSantis encouraged the conservatives to move to Florida but large parts of Miami metro area is now largely voting Red and that area is mostly Hispanics, not retirees. His appeal is very big currently in Florida and he's seen as the candidate to flip back Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia etc again for the GOP.

Trump-lite? I mean buddy, that's the whole point and appeal of him. Trumpism is the way forward but the GOP need a pragmatic sensible mannered version of Trump and that's exactly what DeSantis is willing to deliver. His policies in Florida have been perfect and his "don't say Gay" bill was largely welcomed by Floridians. Most die-hard Trump supporters are fine with Trump not running in 2024 if it means an appropriate replacement like DeSantis runs, and not some RINO like Romney, Paul Ryan or the Cheney's.

One thing however, I really wish Elon Musk could run as President but it's a shame he can't run due to his birthplace.

It definitely is, but I don't think it's going to work on pivotal Middle Eastern leaders or the likes of Erdoğan; you play to your audience rather in such a situation.

In terms of suits, I understand and appreciate that perspective, as I have friends in other professions who have shifted away from them. I'm an ol' arse too.

But, having worked in the Middle East and to some extent loosely worked with/for some prominent individuals, I can only guess how it may have been taken.

And it's not likely to have been seen positively.

Some may call me old-fashioned and whatnot, or it may be due to how I've been conditioned in my life, but I can't get past what he's wearing there.

He's turned up to the WC to, if the reports are correct, meet numerous world leaders and important financiers to look for investment in casual clothes.

They're probably worth a lot (well, maybe not with him), but it doesn't suggest seriousness and respect, which in those spheres is often very, very important.

More so in the Middle East, too. It's like he's above them all - the tit!
He wants into the rag trade? does this man know no bounds...
