Current Affairs Elon Musk

He wasn’t born in the US so can’t run for President
Yip, he’s a Saffa from Pretoria. And I have it on good authority that he went to a staunch Afrikaans high school.

With a name like Elon, I would imagine that he was bullied mercilessly. It might account for some of his behaviour.

The Fed is to blame, nothing to do with Elon

It's almost as though he decided to buy the modern equivalent of his own television network so he can push his own propaganda unfettered, somehow not realizing that the whole thing works a lot better when other voices push the narrative.

It's not clear to me how he could look at the data series and decide to adopt Trump's methods, rather than stick with what worked so well for so long.

Not sure he had a lot of choice in the matter. Banks will only lend so much of a percentage of share price using shares as collateral, and any sane underwriter would have been very skittish looking at Tesla's P/E and trajectory in November, much less now.
Banks getting a tad nervous is also presumably why he is trying to get more people to invest in Twitter.

He has funding needs in excess of cash flow somewhere. Twitter seems the most likely candidate. A quick glance at news stories suggests that the underwriters of the shotgun marriage are all declining lowball $0.60 on the dollar offers on the debt.

If the finances were not a disaster, those Wall Street firms would receive better offers. The whole fiasco reminds me a bit of the financial crisis shotgun marriages, in the sense that on some of those deals we were probably all better off just having the government/Musk just make the distressed companies/Twitter whole, then legislate to fix the problem going forward.

Unfortunately, legislative solutions are not feasible with Congress in its present state, so we get what we get from regulators and the court system attempting to use their delegated discretion to paper over the cracks.

Aye, as you mention above, he clearly needs cash with Twitter and/or SpaceX being likely culprits, and his purchase of Twitter has eaten into his credit.

He's said a few times that he's not cash rich, so with him alienating more and more advertisers and users from Twitter it's likely haemorrhaging cash.

He could be robbing Peter to pay Paul as Tesla is the platform more likely to fund his ventures - selling Tesla, worse when it's losing value, appears naive.

But, I suspect he's being forced into it by how it's panning out. As I said earlier hough, the more he acts like a bellend, the more Twitter could become a cash drain.

It's all well and good having a platform to spout nonsense, but you need people to use it to listen. Twitter is still popular, but is the platform sustainable?

Narcissism begets more narcissism.

They’re like 2 peas in a pod.
Elon probably admires him because he sees so much of himself in him.

The same way Kanye West and Trump were brown nosing each other at one point.

His massive ridiculous ego will be his undoing in the end... Watch this space.

I mean he's not an idiot, but it does seems that a lot of his decisions are purely ego based, and all it takes is just one wrong call and bam! Domino effect.

What is the height of hubris? About 5'9''give or take an inch.
