Point is you've got 450 million active users on twitter each month and these fatsos are hard to shift. As you can see on this thread right here - they love it and are hopelessly addicted. How would you lure them away?

Not that twitter is some bulletproof digital edifice that must endure - it's time will come. But the business was in trouble long before Elon Musk ever showed up, and what we're seeing now is symptomatic of that. If it was plain sailing running twitter in the short to medium term then one of the companies you mention would already own it.

It's not really going to happen, but make-believe that Apple, Google, the EU and some content owners all dumped twitter in a short span of time. If one or both of the corporations said just download our app, if you have an apple id or a google account you're already setup and here's some sort of seeded community/content. Might not even have to be very successful to damage twitter fatally. Musk can't be making himself very popular with Apple especially, and with financial analysts predicting tesla will be bigger than apple in a decade, they might think of getting their retaliation in first. Of course it's fantasy, but I find it interesting.

Other fantasy alternate universes might involve Jack Dorsey/bluesky/open-source-social-media or Amazon/Jeff Bezos/Washington post - amazon we're allegedly doing something on a "decentralized Twitter" and in terms of US politics Bezos seems to be on the other side from Trump / Musk.

Personally I think every one should just use GOT though.
 
Been planning to delete Twitter for a long while, but it’s very more-ish. Been on there since 2009, back when it was quite a nice, friendly place.

Might take it out of my hands, go out in a blaze of glory and just call out Elon every day, with increasingly abusive tweets until someone drops the ban hammer on me.
