You can choose who you follow though, no? Surely that means you choose the kind of content you consume and the discussions you have?
Doxxing Twitter employees wasn’t enough for him today, he is going to wildly speculate on election interference.
It depends what you use it for I suppose. I'm sure @LinekersLegs could recommend some cracking accounts to get information on things like Covid, for instance, and if you followed them you'd still get great content. Similarly, my world is largely academia so I follow lots of schools and that is pretty much unchanged.True to a point, but my issue was the overall site content (which includes the people and news sites I followed) being steered in a way which I didn’t like.
There’s also the “promoted” tweets you see, which are worse than ever in the last month or two, combined with the fact that I liked to use the ‘trending’ function to see what was happening, but as of yesterday, the Trending topics included “Kanye, Nazi, Laptop, Hunter, Constitution, Trump” etc.
Twitter also recommends people who you should follow, and yesterday was recommending far right / Nazi adjacent accounts.
There’s something strange happening on the platform, so I’ve decided that ignorance is bliss.

That's kind of the point though, isn't it? I suspect the accounts mentioned above get a fraction of the activity that accounts designed to whip up outrage get, which highlights what Twitter is largely all about. None of the topics mentioned can really be discussed with any nuance or depth, so it's that instant dopamine hit of rage that's the intention in a lot of instances. I'd argue that if you're looking for useful information then you'd be better off getting a Feedly account and sticking a bunch of reliable sources in it.

I have a few accounts. One as a general account, which is a big mix of stiff. The others I curate who I follow on each and the content. One is for work and it's pretty much all useful information and discussion without the annoying culture wars and left vs right noise. It depends what you use it for I suppose.
