Tbf Joey, he cost them 40m not 30m, has played close to 60 games so has featured he just hasn't ever made the position his own, not being good enough for city and not suiting their system doesn't mean much though, arguably the best team in the world atm, and require s very specific type of cb, ottamendi imo looked equally as poor for them until this season as well and now looks a top centre back.

Less pressure here, less pressure to play like a centre mid on the ball etc, could see us land a top more old school cb if he's in just required to defend first rather than play like city want there defenders to do.

Remember being unimpressed when we signed Distin as well, he done brilliant though, at 26 he's at his peak, new club, change of team could work wonders.
So his wages will be sky high we needed a left back and we got another centre back that's my point!

Ah, so all those banging on about how he's played Left Back loads and has only been meh at it because of Guardiola are full of wham then?

Pretty much mate yeah, as i said before he'd be a stop gap who would likely do ok till seasons end in a pure defensive role at left back, which would maybe free up Bolasie or Sigurdsson from having to help Martina out, then again he could get badly exposed there.

Either way though if we do want him as a permanent in the summer, playing him out of position so you can play a 35 yo Jags or Williams or a kid in Holgate isn't gonna be likely the best way to show him his future is here.

Play him and Keane alongside each other, only play one dm in front in Gueye and push the back line 10-15yards further forward as you then have at least bone cb with pace and experience, and don't ask the lad to be a maldini on the ball as he's IMO anyway a bit of a Sakho type.
