I had three shirts with names on when I was younger and all three ended in tears. My first was Collins who just wasn't very good and my other two were Barmby and Rooney

I don't think numbers really matter that much anymore mate, arguably the best strikers in the league last season were RVP, Suarez and Aguero and none of them have a number 9 shirt.

The number 9 doesn't mean as much to those clubs as it does to everton, though.

Donovan came to the club was handed the number nine shirt, and played like a true Everton number nine. Hope Kone can do the same.

Don't get me wrong, loved a name on the back as a kid and I can't wait to get a kit for the little one with a name on it. Just didn't think it was a thing with adults.
