….getting back to the thread, given Tarkowski’s and doubts about Branthwaite’s future, his best piece of transition management was the signing of Jake O’Brien. I praised Thelwell for it at the time, if I remember rightly you called O’Brien a dud and said it was nothing do do with Thelwell.
Transition management is key. I think you’re a little confused as It doesn’t mean renewing deals for players you don’t want to keep, it means having a plan to gradually replace them. If you fail to do that you can find yourself in an almighty mess.
Anyway, he’s hopefully gone now, pointless discussion.
You dont think
O'Brien was a dud under the previous manager? Quite a peculiar take.
"Transition management" is not exactly the first priority of a team having to sell to buy every summer. Having said that, the high value sales made by the DOF did enable the club to bring in young players who have seen every one of their values increase...
...with the possible exception of Beto who has so many caveats to his deal its unreal.
The frightening thing about this summer is that were seeing links to some interesting young players like Neil, Rigg, Cherki and Doak.
Yet are also linked with Longstaff, Coufal and Soucek.
Seeing as
Moyes has had an extremely poor run of signings overall in the past decade....its very concerning if he has any say in signings.
He intimated that Thelwell brought in Alcaraz and it wasnt his choice at all. Additionally hes referenced
Ndiaye being the best attacker today and concerned when he was injured.
The man seems to prefer to use Harrison & Doucoure...as well as donkey crock Broja rather than the talented players who are actually under contract.
