His daughter has confirmed the photo is genuine and is vigorously defending him on Twitter right now. Naturally loads of 'good reds' (!!!) are giving her abuse. Great fans...

@Davylpool are you serious? This is in 2011 when he climbed Kilamonjaro and the sun had an involvement in it too

Final straw for rodgers?

The enemy within , what a own goal that is .

Brenada Rodgers (despite everything) is not stupid. He'll have known exactly what the Sun still meant on Merseyside. He just couldn't give a ****. That's the bottom line. Now there's plenty in football who've played the game with the Sun, but none that went onto become their manager...hold on, Souness did: and his days were numbered after it.

Over to the cult. How consistent are they?

Right, when he was about to do his charity climb up the big hill, did he stop and think

"Hmm, maybe one day I'll be manager of Liverpool, perhaps I should turn down The S*n's offer of a huge donation..."

Course he didn't. Why would he? Like it or not, "Don't buy the S*n" isn't as big a campaign in the rest of Britain as it is on Merseyside. It should be but it never will be.

Complete overreaction and faux hysteria here over a total non story.

Spot on, he raised money for charity didn't he?

If he was still manager of Swansea it'd be nauseating. However he isn't - he's Liverpool's manager and that leaves him (or should do) in a pretty awkward spot. Imagine yourself, God forbid. to have been a family member affected by that tragedy and then you see that daft **** in a Sun t-shirt. I wouldn't give a flying one if he was doing it for a charity or not.

Dave, give it a rest.
