ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I imagine that Rodgers will have to put a lot of priority on winning the Capital One cup.

Not only would a trophy probably buy him some time with the fans for the second half of the season but it would also mean that they were at least qualified for the Europa league regardless of their premier league form.
I dunno, if they finish outside the European places and don't get out of their CL group I don't think a League Cup will save him his job. It wasn't enough to save Kenny and he's got more prestige there than Brendan.

Probably not but would at least buy him time until the summer and the second half of the season they might have Sturridge back plus other purchases to at least attempt to turn it around. If they get kicked out the COC plus don't make the next round of the CL then he'll have to do much better in the league before Christmas especially with Rafael lirking in the wings.

The General Everton thread is nearly off the first page of the RAWK forum, which is usually a sign that Liverpool are doing worse than Everton, and even Kopites are struggling to have their little digs when the arse is falling out of their own team.

The funniest post of late was someone casting doubt on whether Graham Stuart is an 'Everton legend', by putting legend in inverted commas.

Don't know about you, but I'd say winning an FA Cup, scoring two goals in the semi final and being directly involved in the move that led to Rideout scoring the cup final winner, not to mention his 2 goals that kept us up in the Wimbledon game in 1994 - pretty sure by any definition of the word that Stuart is an 'Everton legend'.lol

There are eight league games left until the halfway point of the season. If their sans-Sturridge form doesn't improve they will be on 22 points. At that point they'd to win at least 13 of their last 19 games to have a shot at top four. If top four requires 70 points as usual they'd need to win 16. That's title winning form, and I don't think Sturridge and/or whoever else they might sign would see them improve that much.

If they don't get better in a hurry January might already be too late for Brendan to fix things.
