I imagine that Rodgers will have to put a lot of priority on winning the Capital One cup.

Not only would a trophy probably buy him some time with the fans for the second half of the season but it would also mean that they were at least qualified for the Europa league regardless of their premier league form.

And they'll join Wigan as teams that qualified for Europe and got relegated the same season. One hopes.

More like the candyfloss kid.

.....picked up on an interesting throwaway comment on Talksport early his morning. Alan Brazil saying he was ITK with training staff at Melwood who are becoming increasingly critical of Sturridge. I got the impression he immediately regretted the comment and quickly moved the discussion on.

I suspect Sturridge is one of those diva type players who wont go through the pain barrier for the cause. Might be wrong, of course, but perhaps everything needs to be 110% right before he'll put his boots on.

Possibly, or under pressure they've been pushing him when he thinks he's not fully recovered, he's protested and now they're calling him out on it.

Either way, cracks are forming in Rodgers new veneers..

I presume this isn't in a Roy Keane "will he play despite already having an injury" which in general I think is a bit daft as it usually just ends up with a worse injury especially for muscular complaints. The same approach applied to head injuries can be downright dangerous.

However as I understand it physio often requires a lot of painful stretching and uncomfortable repetitive exercises which a diva type might not be willing to put as much effort into.

Seems like the Mail are running with the story.

"Rodgers has not been able to select Sturridge - who has also had a calf injury in between his thigh issues - since August 31 and Brazil, on his daily breakfast show on talkSPORT, hinted that the Liverpool manager is becoming irritated by being without his first-choice striker.

In conversation with co-host Mike Parry, Brazil said: 'I have heard that the staff, I won't say who but, are getting just a little bit fed up of what is going on there with Sturridge.'

Parry replied: 'Erm, the staff, Al? You are going to have to tell us a little bit more about that. That's just a taster.'

Brazil, who is friends with Rodgers, then said: 'Well, let's put it this way. I think Brendan is very, very upset… I mean, what is going on here? Why is he (Sturridge) always injured?'

Sportsmail have approached Liverpool for comment.

Sturridge is the type that will look after number one. Mr Clever has already blotted his copy book with Sturridge over a substitution last season and then the argument with Hodgson over the rest period. Doesn't surprise me that Sturridge will not get out on the pitch until he wants to.

Punching and screaming is phase II. Phase I was crying and shaking.
Phase III will be
The RS echo states that not only has Sturridge got a thigh strain, its a GRADE 2 thigh strain! How to make things sound more serious ha ha ha ha
Blimey its worse than I thought ,If its grade 2 that means they will only be able to do minor repairs to it but any major work that needs doing will need council permission.
