I couldn't care what that whopper McLean thinks about the British Armed forces of today or what happened in Ireland the poppy is for those who have died in 2 costly wars.

He's more bothered about playing up to his image no doubt his friends and family wouldn't be too happy with him wearing one due to their distorted view on the poppy

How is it distorted for a community to resent an organisation that mowed a shed load of them down not so long ago?

Remembrance is about choosing to remember and showing respect by making a decision to wear a poppy. It's not about screaming blue murder when people choose not to.

My main gripe mate is the poppy is largely to remember and show respect to the soldiers who died in WW1 and if you know about WW1 you would know the horrific nature of trench warfare and the terrible conditions those poor soldiers lived in.

Regardless of mine, yours, McLean or anyone's opinion on the armed forces of today or of recent years, the poppy isn't for them it's for those of WW1, and the fact irish soldiers no doubt would have died in the conflict makes his whole message even more daft. I'll leave it that at we probably won't agree on this topic
