So the Champions league strategy has now changed to beating Ludogorets away who they narrowly beat with a late penalty at home and beating Basel who already beat them in Switzerland.
I love the way the British media translate this to it still being in Liverpool's hands. I'm sure the Bulgarian and Swiss media have a completely different opinion

The 3 way tie is decided by GD, Goals scored and so on - in any event Basel have a higher coefficient so they go through if nothing can split them.

Firstly Liverpool have to beat Basel to have any chance of 2nd place. Draw against them and they lose the head-to-head if level on points.

Lose 1-0 - or by more than 2 goals - in Bulgaria and they are bottom of the group and any result for Basel at home to Real leaves them sure to finish bottom.

So.....in the event of all three teams having won a head to head each, it just reverts to straight goal difference?

What would the coefficient have to do with iit, Dan?

Surely that is only a formula to rank teams in the groups and would be very far down the tie break ladder, if at all.

Well, I suppose it is still in their hands......if they best Basle by two goals and then win by two at Ludo they will go through.

The problem for them is it us hard to see where there next win is coming from.
