Madrid are 6 points ahead of the only team in the group (Basel) who can catch them and have a 9 GD advantage over them with 6 points left to play for. They're already 99.99% confirmed group winners.

They're going to Basel next game with their flip flops on.

José Mourinho has offered a thinly veiled criticism of Liverpool’s team selection for their game at Real Madrid on Tuesday night by suggesting that, in contrast, he would always select his strongest lineup when confronting “the most difficult opponents”.

Chelsea visit Anfield on Saturday lunchtime with Liverpool, their Champions League progress far from dependent upon winning in the Bernabéu, having rested five key players in Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Mario Balotelli, the captain Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho for their group game against the European champions. Brendan Rodgers has always made clear the Premier League, and finishing in the top four, is his priority.

Mourinho offered the caveat he was not speaking specifically “about Liverpool” but, as he prepares to send out a strong side at Maribor on Wednesday, he made clear he would not have adopted such a policy. “I don’t speak about Liverpool, I speak about myself,” he said. “If one day I go to a game and I don’t feel I can win, maybe I don’t go. So, normally, against the most difficult opponents, I will try to go with my best team.

Look at El Capitans face!

Stevie me was upset with Lallana because he missed the 'We go again, after this 1-0 loss 'vistory', rallying cry.
"We don't let this slip, we go again!" Steven Gerrard leads Liverpool's Post-Match Huddle

explains why he played his reserves at klanfield last season - didn't think of them as a worthy opponent, fair enough based on the result

oh dear me

rodgers "i felt we were unfortunate not to get a result"

just read that myself, not sure what the unfortunate part was, moreno's pea roller that could have hit a bobble and jumped 10 yards in the air over the keeper, or the pesky madrid goal that game from one of just 29 shots they had.

he's right, it was a fear of failure that led rodgers to do this, surrender before it starts and claim you can't win, you remove that fear, you also can't win

I know right.

It is a bit deja vu with last season - Jose is also complaining about the turnaround time between the CL game and Liverpool which was his justification for playing some reserves last season.

José Mourinho has given up on the Premier League and television rights holders taking into account midweek European commitments when it comes to fixture scheduling as Chelsea confront a lunchtime kick-off at Liverpool this Saturday, on their return from Slovenia.

Pity Demba Ba isn't still with them, guess Costa will just have to do.

Mr Clever is cock-a-hoop that they didn't get a drubbing. And he feels he can give the bull, 'we should have got something from the game' to deflect form the fact that he parked the bus and the 'mighty' Red didn't want to try and get something from the game.
