First Adel Taarabt's waistline and then Mario Balotelli's souvenir swapping. Are they fair game for managers to bring up in the wake of defeats?

Times journalist Alyson Rudd thinks not.

"Excuses are part of the game. Referees are often blamed, as is the weather, the scheduling, the pitch, the traffic, injuries and illness. When individuals are singled out, it is an excuse too far," she writes.

"Both Balotelli and Taarabt are gifted players with chequered histories. It is the management of such players that partly defines coaching ability. If they are used as scapegoats, it says more about their bosses than about them"

Excellent comment, it's all about the shirt swap and ignores the abject failure of the manager and the team..........

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Humiliated on their own pitch....for 90 minutes.

Laughing stocks with their 'big European nights at Anfield' claims.

Wonderful, absolutely wonderful.
Something could be learned from the way Madrid went about their business and got into that Liverpool team. Their mentality and the way they soaked up the early bit of expected gung ho; before rolling their sleeves up and showing them how they play football for 40 minutes of the first half was nice to see.

So many teams go to the pit and start shaking with fear before they've even took to the field; teams cannot play their own game and revert to different tactics. We as Evertonians know this too damn well and teams could learn a thing or three from the way Madrid went at it with ..... we'll play our own game and you're entitled to play yours; lets see who the better team is. Yes Madrid have a better quality of player than the rest but i honestly think a good proportion of the downfall teams have going there and to other places like Stamford Bridge and The Emirates, is psychological.

They're 5th in the league and still have a reasonable chance of qualifying...it's a bit mad to be wanting Rodgers out just yet

You don't look at the league until around 15 games played. Means nothing right now. They might be 5th but 2 defeats in a row could see them back down into 15th.

Only once the teams have played around 15 games, do you get some kind of inkling as to where teams might finish and/or challenge.
