ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

The problem with how the kopites dealt with the Suarez case is that Suarez was guilty, and demonstrably so (even on Suarez's evidence alone). No amount of PR spin, of smart legalese, of "going to the matresses" (to paraphrase Foghorn256) would have changed that, especially when Dalglish made his decision to back his player publically.

Agreed. But the fact they couldn't even get their act together to minimize the damage is, I suppose, their point here.

i have been reading the postings on that site also and some of what they come out with is just totally paranoid, delusional thinking. They are, more or less to a man, convinced that every sports writer and journo, every news channel and sports programmes are somehow waging a huge vendetta against their beloved club, Every other team hates them and that Alex Ferguson only has to pick up the phone and that the FA will dance to his merry tune.

They also, to a man, talk about how wronged smarmez has been and that there was no evidence to prove what he said,,, they seem to forget that he did actually admit to saying it, wethether it was ten times or once is irrelevant really as once is too much. As regards for the victim, Patrice Evra, like him or hate him it doesn't matter as in this case he was actually the victim, on Rawk he has been labelled a liar, a cheat, a scumbag, a dirty n****r, a cnut, a french cnut,,,,,, all by fans who claim to be the fairest in the land.

I am so so so so glad I was chosen to be blue.

It's their birthright to make it up as they go along. Facts dont suit? Just make some new ones up and ignore the actual ones.

The article itself, and the comments underneath clearly demonstrate what an egomaniacal bunch of sick people they are.

It's the perfect definition of 'moronathon'.

I am also sick to the back teeth of their claims of being representative of the people of Liverpool. The writer of the article is a Londoner!

But it's all so typical of the sort who follow them. They are NOT from the City and have no feeling for all it stands for (whatever that is) and care little for how it is perceived.

They would have to climb for a long long time to reach the gutter.

"To many of us, it looks in that moment as if Suarez has thought ‘**** you and the lying horse you rode in on. **** your faux victimhood, and your shameless highjacking and abusing of the ‘kick-it out’ campaign. **** your attempt to ruin my career just because you were having a bad hair day. **** your manipulating of the weak and opportunistic men. **** you for labelling me as all that I despise.’"

That is quite superb as an example of how deluded these people are.

Someone's out there typing this scary stuff out....and the rest of the red sheep lap it up.

Lol!

My take :

Are you lot for real? I've always had good red mates, who i love talking to about the game. Not just LFC, however the terrible picture painted by Suarez has done untold damage which reached boardroom levels this weekend, and i am now struggling to defend my mates attitudes, you're Scousers just like me, i just choose to support the blue side of the city.

The recent controversy surrounding arguably your most talented player is ridiculous, he is an IMMENSE player, who will no doubt score the winner in the cup in two weeks and wipe from memory probably a books worth of news.

What i can't fathom is just how many have been staunchly defending him, just when a INDEPENDENT Oxbridge educated committee and a 115 page document carefully disclosed the troubles of Evra V Suarez, then the ridiculous handshake ( he didn't shake his hand, and other Area 51-esque rumors) have sought to further put a barrier between brains and gob!

I will stand by my own opinion, that most of the Reds i know are GOOD lads, and girls. Suarez has tainted the Liverpool FC image and the open collared city slickers of the press have had an absolute riot with it, it has proved to be painful to watch, this is my City as well you know.

I'll say this in closing, your narrow minded view of this entire debacle has now reached almost comical levels, maybe Suarez is just a bad egg? I don't know any pundit, red or blue who has ever doubted his ability, but this entire undoing of a fairly decent image has to lay on someones shoulders, and if you keep on carrying on pointing the fingers at everyone else, then it will only be you that eventually gets the blame.

Good luck in the Derby!

Thing is though they are only realising after the fact how poorly their club operated through it all, when the statements, t-shirts etc where all happening, the blerts were all saying how proud of the club they were and how they back it all 100%.

Oh yeah, it's taken as a given that they're incapable of consistency. The one's with drool coming down their gobs last week are all philosophers now...principally because KKKenny has capitulated and apologised.

you `suppose` its their point. ffs its the only thing its about, its nothing else but `how do we come out of this **** smelling of roses if suarez abuses a child and we back him, we need to look good`. i`m at a loss Davek, as to why you reckoned there was any `rationality` at all in that drivell

Apologies if that's been posted earlier, but where on earth do you beigin to start with stuff like that?!

Frightening.

Evra was cheating when he disputed a coin toss before a ball was kicked between Liverpool and United that month. He was cheating when he rolled around feigning injury after the lightest of touches from Suarez on 50 odd minutes of that game. He was cheating when he tried to provoke a fight with Suarez in the Kop goal mouth shortly afterwards, and he was cheating when he reported the same man for multiple racist abuse at the match’s conclusion.
They won’t see Evra this way.

Hahaha. My favourite bit amongst the complete and utter cock, is the bit where he blames Evra for going down easily.

Not that Suarez ever dives and gets people sent off (Rodwell), or just moans like an absolute whopper over nothing (Ferdinand before half time), or is generally a cheating scummy man (Ghana, anyone?).

That isn't even mentioning his racism, biting and general diving and rolling round tendencies.

To this day I am none the wiser as to where precisely the true weight of culpability lay for the Heysel disaster, but I know that my club ultimately took responsibility for it, and that we as supporters remain haunted by the spectre of those events to this day.

Oh dear god so much bull**** in one paragraph

I don't want to take this thread off topic or stir anything up, but I am only 20 so I wasn't around and I have never really been told the full story of the Heysel disaster. I've just read the wiki page about it, can someone tell me if it's accurate or not?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heysel_Stadium_disaster

Not 1 mention of Chelsea or Fergie!!!!!

But yeah, I read that the other day out of interest, from my viewpoint on the tele and hazy memory, it appears fairly accurate.
