The Fenway Group are thought to have influenced the decision to issue the apologies from the club, the manager Kenny Dalglish and from Suarez himself, but Standard Chartered, whose name appears on the Liverpool jersey and who pump around £20 million per season in the club, have felt the need to have their say over what happened.


The company issued a brief statement on the matter which read: "We were very disappointed by Saturday's incident and have discussed our concerns with the club," while according to The Guardian, a person familiar with the matter said: "It was a very robust conversation.


Haha brilliant. It was only a matter of time before the sponsors started to get cold feet. This whole saga is bound to have cast a negative image on their international appeal and their ability to attract sponsorship, which will have financial consequences. The owners must be fuming.
