. Woolton- large Jewish community
Toxteth- high numbers of afro caribbeans, africans, asians, chinese, Sri Lankans.
Wavertree- afro caribbeans, asians, africans, eastern europeans.
Kensington- eastern europeans, Sri Lankans, africans.
I could go on but hopefully you get my point. All these ethnically diverse groups live side by side, hand in hand, day in day out in the same communities. You have no idea of the nuances of everyday life within these groups. Sure there are racists in Liverpool, as there are everywhere, but the city as a whole leaves the rest of the country far behind when it comes to diversity and tolerance.

You said Muslim, Nik. Not Pakistani. None of the Pakistanis I'm friends with would behave that way but I can't speak for all of them. Instances of that kind of thing happening are pretty well documented, unfortunately, so what you say isn't without a bit of truth.

If you're looking for a Persian princess you'd probably be more likely to find one in Iran. Good luck with that though eh?!

Absolutely agree that the Indian subcontinent produces some of the most stunning women in the world.

I'm not talking ****e at all. I don't see anywhere near what you are saying when I go Liverpool. This isn't a good or bad thing. But put it this way, walking into a dodgy pub and meeting some arl fella's after the Everton match, guess where the conversation turned to as soon as I said I was from Luton? 'How do you feel about it?' etc etc They were absolutly lovely fellas and really took me in, but they weren't the most 'open' to the idea of ethnic diversity. They weren't racist, they used words which wouldnt be considered PC, but there was no hatred of someone because of teir skin colour. It was just something they considered not prevailant in Liverpool. So it's not just me chatting '****e' Tommy.

You can meet geezers like that in any dodgy pub in any town in the country though.

Granted. I understand that. But they weren't like 'oh I hate them whoever'. They just said that Liverpool's not particulally ethnically diverse. And I beleive that. I dont think it is anywhere near Manchester or London for example. This isn't a good or bad thing. But I dont think a lot of you understand that in my town especially, it's not just the big nasty white men who are at fault for ethnic tensions. It's both sides. Something which I am not afriad to point out. When you get hate preachers on the streets protected by police, or extremeists shouting abuse at Iraq war soldiers, you are going to be all kinds of WTF MAN. This stuff doesnt happen in Liverpool. So you cant point the finger. Whilst what The EDL do on there demonstrations is abhorrent, and what they really stand for behind all that 'good of the country' provada is pretty horrible, it is not a coincidence they were formed in Luton. And you have to look at the reasons why and not just dismiss these issues if you want to stop far right wing groups from forming and being active.

I live in London. I think it's quite similar to Liverpool really. I live in a place called Kingston, basically an all white community, down the road is New Malden, large Korean community. Down the road again, Richmond, all white. There are places like Peckham and Hackey with huge afro carribean communities but there are places like that everywhere. I've been through places like Toxteth on my travels, very diverse, then I go back to my family in Crosby and it's all white. Everywhere has different areas with different ethnicities but I wouldn't say Liverpool is significantly less diverse than anywhere else.

i have just read that whole article and still at the end of it they will not accept any wrong doing on their behalf. Maybe it's me with my blue specs on ,( and i again don't condone Barclays response,) but if the person who made the first comment hadn't tried to score a low point in the first place none of this discussion would be going on.

It's embarrassing for football in general that 'supporters' posting on twitter would wish anyone to die of Cancer
That these people profess outrage at Barclay and then come out with stuff like that is hideous

Your comparing a place where people of all races live side by side in harmony, Liverpool.
To
A hotbed of racist bigotory where people of all races dont live side by side in harmony, Luton.

Yes Liverpool is NOTHING like Luton, but to say its not ethnic diverse is a complete joke, as Tommy pointed out in his post.

To be honest, more fool the people of Luton for putting up with it, it simply wouldnt happen in Liverpool.

I agree! Apart from I didnt say it wasn't ethnically diverse. I said it wasn't AS ethnically diverse. Which I stand by.

Have to disagree with you NIK about Liverpool not being diverse. i've been all over the country (most of the world too) and i've never been to anywhere that has a more mixed heritage. you walk through tthe town centre and within 200yards you will have seen just about every ethic group possible. Racism is inherent in every place i've been and isnt reserved for white folk against everyone else, i have been the subject of racism because i'm white and english.
just wrong.............simply stunning!!!!!!!!!!! every place i`ve been has proved Nik to be right in what he says. even the corner shop owners in liverpool dont even live there, they are from places like sheffield etc. the last govnerment set up 2 asylum centres - one in london, the other in liverpool. i think this was to deliberately place immigrants in the city for whatever policy Labour had in mind, liverpool isnt exactly an employment hot-spot so what reason could there be to `encourage` immigrants to settle here

Well then I agree, Liverpool, as far as im aware, cos I am a wool after all, but Liverpool doesnt have ANY no go areas, where race is concerned.

I think if you dont own a black coat, dont stick your hands down your pants and spit on the floor some places of Nogsy are off limits.
