'' I have been received more warmly by Everton than I have by Liverpool. It is scandalous that I should have to write these things about the club that I helped build into what it is today. ''

Bill Shankly

The greatest scottish manager of all time.... I dont think so. Lets not forget shankly hated the rs in later life

Spot on mate shankly fell out with Liverpool after his retirement, and I believe actually spent more time at Everton than he did at Anfield. He was shunned by Liverpool he felt so insulted, he actually famously said that he had received a warmer reception after his retirement at Manchester United and Everton than he did at Anfield. After he retired didn't he prefer to spend his time with Everton, where he was welcomed with open arms ? Anyway we all know who the best Scottish Manager of all time is

Shankley

Tommy Docherty invited me to Old Trafford when Manchester United played Liverpool in a night match. Tommy invited me to have a meal with him in the restaurant at Old Trafford and we enjoyed a wonderful hour of banter before the match. Sidney Reakes, the Liverpool director, said to Tommy, “I see Bill Shankly’s here.” “Aye,” said Tommy. “He’s welcome here.”

I might add that I count Everton amongst the clubs who have welcomed me over the last few seasons. I have been received more warmly by Everton than I have been by Liverpool.

It is scandalous and outrageous that I should have to write these things about the club I helped to build into what it is today, because if the situation had been reversed I would have invited people to games. It would have been a wonderful honour to have been made a director of Liverpool Football Club, but I don’t go round saying, “I would like to be this and that.” That’s begging – and I’m not a beggar! No, no – anything I have done and everything I have got, I have worked for.

It was never my intention to have a complete break with Liverpool, but at the same time I wasn’t going to put my nose in where it wasn’t wanted. Maybe I was an embarrassment to some people. Maybe they thought I should have asked them if I wanted to go to away matches.

Maybe they didn’t even think about it. That’s their business, nothing to do with me.

While they'll win on Sunday without a doubt, this sounds like he's talking about a title challenge.

Surprised at that bit at the bottom - though he's clearly belittling United by putting us in the same bracket as them...

They wont beat us mate, not a chance. They struggled past relegation candidates Stoke and then after an admittedly good first half against Villa they faded badly as they did against Notts County the other night.

We'll take advantage of that late on in the game, expect at least 2 from us in the last half hour, assuming we haven't collapsed in the face of the expected early pressure that will be enough.

I hope you thrash them, mate. You're much the better team, but those fecks always raise their game for you and us, mate.

Jock Stein was a legend, like.

Oh they'll come at us all guns blazing, no doubt about that and there is a chance that we might go under but if we get through the first half hour we will gradually take over I reckon. I've seen all their games so far and they've looked fuc*ed from 60 mins onwards in everyone of them for some reason.

We only get stronger in that last 30 mins or so. We're not very good these days but we're incredibly hard to beat and they aren't good enough to do it IMO
