Really don't think Suarez- as much of a **** he is- will be the sort of player to refuse to play even if he does stick around for another season. I personally want him to leave as I can see him scoring lot's of goals next season and if they bring in another forward to to work along with him (Diego Costa apparently being mentioned) then they may put up a decent challenge for 4th/5th spot. As much as Rodgers is saying they want a Bale sized bid to come in I think he will be gone if anything close to 50m pops up from a foreign club.

He's done it before, and will do it again. They will sell abroad for 35 million

...everybody is assuming the £40m+ is merely a trigger to talk to another club, but I wonder if it could be interpreted differently. I dare say lawyers are trawling over the detail but Wenger seemed very smug when talking yesterday and suarez apparently headed straight to London after the final whistle yesterday.

If this £40M+ business is true it surely can't be to allow him to "just talk" to any team.

The basis of any contract must be an offer and an acceptance. When The RS bought him £40M looked a watertight amount to them - now someone has triggered this figure they have to go through with it - just like if Fellaini has a £23M price tag. He might seem (to some) to be worth £25-30M but, once a team is interested that's the figure - they ain't going to pay any more. You either get it right or you get it wrong - and there's no way a player will sign a contract that puts a chain around them to force them to stay out their contract (nor indeed are there many teams willing to allow a top player to run his contract down to the point of a free transfer if they can help it).

In essence it does mate, they've shafted Suarez & his agent here, with the wording of the clause.

As apparently it's worded in such a way that legally all it forces them to do is allow him to speak to them, his agent has been naive as they believed it was in essence a release clause. But it has an element of 'gentlemen's agreement' about it & he made the fatal error of forgetting he was dealing with the spawn of Satan.

It's funny watching Sky Sports New today - they can barely conceal a smirk when they report Rodgers stating Suarez is worth over £80m.

Well if nothing else this £80M pricetag just scares them all away and leaves Suarez an unhappy bunny. Stand by for more fireworks on and off the pitch and, more importantly a totally disheartened, malodorous thug on it.

There has been a bit of this recently (the journo popcorning Suarez at the airport and a few other bits). Although the money men love the RS you get the feeling that the presenters in the know have them down as a laughing stock.

Hi,

This is going to be the first season in a long time where I'm not even worried about them at all. Even if Suarez stays he's banned for how many more games and if he doesn't leavae now, he definitely will in January. They haven't signed anyone of note at all either
