ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

...their whole season depends on suarez, which is why they are begging him to stay. Knowing that lot, things will work out fine. Interesting that only the Arse have bid, would've though somebody else would be interested. Funny if Spurs come in when they lose Bale.

Guardian:

"Humbled" Uruguay's finest may have been on Saturday, but if he was it was long overdue. Suárez is to loyalty what Eamonn Holmes is to hang-gliding and it beggared belief to hear Liverpool fans cheer him to the echo when he went on for Iago Aspas...after 62 minutes. This is a man who has been sticking two fingers up at the Kop, metaphorically speaking, all summer, yet he even got a round of applause for one of his trademark visits to the turf.

To be fair, there had been a lack of offers, only arsenal have made a bid and they don't offer massive wages like City or Chelsea.

There never was going to be a load of offers for a few reasons. Firstly, not many clubs in world football even today will splash £30m+ on one player, so there's a limited market. Not only that, but the true prestige clubs in world football wouldn't go near him.

I honestly expected him to go to PSG or Monaco or a Russian club, and to be honest I still think that will be what happens before the end of the transfer window for around £35m.

Cheering him is a self serving procedure to heighten their sense of martyrdom if he goes, i think they know he's off regardless of what they do.

I reckon he will do a Gerrard style turn around and stay.

Difference being that back then Liverpool were CL regulars, at least that made a u-turn rational from a football pov. Suarez isn't looking at CL football for Liverpool, realistically, for at least another two years...and that's being optimistic for them - short of an Arab takeover.

I think Liverpool will be desperate for that offer to ramp up to £45M or so. They know he's damaged goods PR wise, and they want to claw back some of the spending they've made.

I think so too.

However they'll still waste the extra money on transfers.

I really think Brenda hasn't a clue in the transfer market, I could be proved wrong in the coming weeks but he's payed over odds for all of them.

Them lot are like beaten housewives. Keep on loving no matter how many times he punches you in the face.

And as for his fee compared to Bale...

Bale is younger and can get better. Zidane himself has gone out of his way to get Real to do anything they can to get him. Levy slapped a ridiculous price on his head but talent wise, he could be as good as Ronaldo.

Suarez is a rat who's at his peak. Will still have disciplinary problems and will jump ship when he wants to.

From RAWK:

'It might be very upsetting when you find out that Luis Alberto is better than Totti, and that we just signed him for 7 million. You were going to find out at some point though, I suppose. Best to get it over with. Like a band-aid, right off.'
