Classy as always:

Police were last night monitoring abusive tweets aimed at the controversial player.

He is the subject of a £40million bid from the north London club.

The furore blew up as Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, 40, appeared to be losing the battle to keep him.

Some threats were made directly to the star via his Twitter account.

Joshua Whateley tweeted: “If by any chance Liverpool do accept a bid, and you move, I will find you and I will kill you.’’

Another fan wrote: “Can Arsenal just f*** off. If Luis Suarez leaves I’ll hunt him down and kill him.’’

Rodgers urged Suarez, 26, to snub the move and repay the loyalty Liverpool had shown him after his biting and racism controversies.

But the Uruguayan has publicly stated he wants to leave and is said to be demanding talks with Arsenal in a bid to agree personal terms.

Last night police were examining the Twitter traffic.

A source said: “People should be aware they can be held accountable to the law for anything they write on social networking sites.”

He thinks he is Liam Neeson from taken this melt.

I wonder how they'll sanatise this to absolve themselves of blame when it's looked back on in the future?

...I think it will be very difficult for them to come out of this with any dignity. Even now they should be saying the player can go if the right offer comes along, but instead they are virtually begging him to stay via the 'loyalty' line.

I think the crazies are doing that, but most seem to be "if he wants to go, lets sell him and use the money"

Question is, who do they buy if he does go?

He's the last "name" striker on the market right now

It will be hard to convince any decent players to come in as well if they sell their best player.

The only strikers they have been linked with as potential replacements are Soldado and Luis Muriel.

This whole saga is just amazing.

Everyone and his dog now knows what kopites are really like now. The boy Suarez is embarrassing them expertly, but nowhere near as expertly as they're doing it themselves.

I wonder if they would sign Defoe? I wonder if they'd even want him? I wonder if he'd even want to go?

I picture Sturridge and Defoe being a good partnership for some reason, ala Heskey and Owen

The thing is, we could have written this entire script well over a year ago.

It was absolutely inevitable.

It's the pure ignorance that some of them have which makes me laugh "sell Suarez, sign soldado and Erikson with the money".... They probably could afford them for sure but nobody wants to go there anymore..... They are a mid table team who are on the verge of losing their star player...they don't have the pull anymore unless they throw a pile of cash at it. This is going to be tremendous.
