ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I know someone that did flog & flit in Kirkby, quite a new house as well apparently. As I remember though he was given an offer that had him asking THEM when he could be out.

There's always going to be mixed reaction to stuff like that depending on personal circumstances (it's like now with the compo on offer to anyone within 50 yards or so of this proposed high speed track - some people are going spare they're not a yard or so closer to it so they can claim bigger cash pay outs!).

The Kirkby thing made me very uneasy though. The houses on affected estate were fairly new and purpose built for those people a decade or so previously, and there was also the shutting down of a nursing home which should ahve had everyone cringeing. I feel the same now about a GP extension, though there it was always the knowledge of the people moving into them that stadium issues could be a factor sometime regarding CPs or issues of light being progressively diminished in a regeneration.

What Happened with the houses when the Park end was Built ?

Actually we do have the moral high ground - what the ****e have done is not use compulsory purchase (which though not the best of practices does have legal protections built into it, which can only be brought in where there is a clear plan of what is going to happen and when, and which requires a public consultation), what they have done is secretly conspired to buy houses around the ground and then deliberately allowed the area to turn into a ****hole - over nearly two decades - in order to keep the prices of the rest of the homes they have to buy low, ruining the lives of many of the people who live there.

Well, I take your distinction, but it' barely amounts to higher ground mate.

^ this.

They've deliberately allowed an area to become a cesspit by leaving the houses they bought derelict. They could have rented them out & allowed the community to remain intact until they reached the point where they needed to compulsory purchase the remaining homes & then done it by the book.

I wonder what RAWK's response to that article will be. Boycott the Guardian?

I was curious as well, found the thread and it looks like they're mostly shocked, angry & disappointed. Some defenders try to argue it's the nature of the beast, a couple have noted David Conn's loaded writing style, but not attacked it directly.

Basically, it looks like they're accepting the article as truth and worthy journalism:

Where are those posters normally? Seem a reasoned bunch in the main, and pretty annoyed at the club.

We have all been made aware of the allegations that our fans snag 'this' and gestured like 'that' at Anfield on Sunday - and we have countered with 'with mobile phones etc. there should be ample evidence to support this'. None, as far as I am aware, has been forthcoming.

Some have said that during the 'thanks' card holding, some were holding the cards with one hand and raising the middle finger of the other hand at the same time.

Do we have any photographic evidence of this, or were we talking 'metaphorically'?

I may have said that playing YAWN was as good as doing that. Folk in the Main Stand/Paddock were giving it to us, although our end went off as soon as the first bar struck up, it always does though.
