ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Okay, cheers for the info. But what's that ''murderers'' chant all about though?

not entirely sure mate but think it alludes to the very first Star Wars movie

apparently the swashbuckling bounty hunter Han Solo had some tenuous leanings towards the dirty red-****e

this was confounded when he got into an altercation with the West Brom supporting alien "greedo" in the mos eisley cantina

han essentially blew the face of his money motivated foe, but there is some debate about who took the first shot

the fact that the cantina staff eventually ended up cleaning up greedo's green blood has always been a point of discussion with evertonians, in that we've always thought that jabba the hutt's accomplices are people/aliens too and should be allowed to have their say, the fact that han ended the discussion with a couple of laser rounds to the face will never be forgotten

justice for greedo chums/han shot first x

I'm not one to get on my high horse all that often but the Murderers chant that we sing really does irk (who even says "irk"?) me. Just as vile as anyone who would mock Munich or Hillsborough.

a bit off-topic, lads, but not sure if it really needs its own thread...thought this article might be of interest to the local lids on here:

Anfield – Liverpool's shameful truth

It is very sad. Not the fault of the current owners but how could a team like that prey on people around there for the sake of less money than what their 1st team would earn in a week.

I would be ashamed and disgusted if Everton had engaged in anything like that.

Shouldn't the people in the suburbs around the ground be the most ardent supporters and they have been treated like crap

The guardian article is shocking. Football clubs should be bringing the community together not destroying it. Waiting for the club response now

Im surprised this had not made the media before now, i was brought up in Anfield, moved away years ago now but i still go back to see family and my god the area is now a disgrace, all the streets are boarded up. I'm sure this is not Liverpool fc fault, "its never your fault" anyway im sure the council and the government will bail them out and do the area up themselves.

To be fair (not exactly in my nature where those bastards are concerned, like!), I dont think we have any moral high ground here. Everton were quite prepared to destroy people's lives up in Kirkby (and, in fact, Walton) when they decided they wanted to go along with compulsory purchasing of houses around the proposed Tesco-Dome stadium. And many blues couldn't have given a flying one if they could have had a new stadium out of it.

All top of the pile club owners are rampant capitalists first and foremost.

I know someone that did flog & flit in Kirkby, quite a new house as well apparently. As I remember though he was given an offer that had him asking THEM when he could be out.

It has, there was at least one article in the Guardian about it last year. The way the club have behaved is a disgrace.

Actually we do have the moral high ground - what the ****e have done is not use compulsory purchase (which though not the best of practices does have legal protections built into it, which can only be brought in where there is a clear plan of what is going to happen and when, and which requires a public consultation), what they have done is secretly conspired to buy houses around the ground and then deliberately allowed the area to turn into a ****hole - over nearly two decades - in order to keep the prices of the rest of the homes they have to buy low, ruining the lives of many of the people who live there.

If they'd paid thge correct price for some of the dross theyve bought then they couldve bought up the whole area for market value + 15% for goodwill.

getting round the 'Light' issue as well with a hotel is sticking their holes in the faces of the residents that will remain.
