ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Realistically if you take bias out of it.

Why would you void a season that is more than 75 percent complete and can be completed in less than 4 weeks? Given the financial and legal issues.

The legal problems of voiding would be too vast. Teams have spent vast amounts on borrowed money from revenue streams that will not pay up if the season isnt finished I.e (tv rights, broadcasting money).

If they finish the games there are no arguments and no legal ramifications. Teams have already spent this years sponsorship money and therefore will operate at a loss and will fail FFP. Everton are currently already operating at a loss.

Next years season can be delayed as long as possible as there is no ruling in when it can start and no future money will be lost. Therefore, finishing this season will not impact the finances of next season one iota.

The Chinese Super League has already announced to restart their season and it was impacted greatly.

The agenda to void was only a pie in the sky agenda made by a manchester journalist. It's only been voided once prior to WW2 when only 3 league games had been played- this season is 29 games in. Everton won the league in 1914-15 in the outbreak of world war 1 and played every game.

I think we need to show a bit of class and stop using a deadly pandemic in the hope's of our closest rivals from losing the title.

I will be going into self isolation for the inevitable parade
Can smell the desperation in this post, a mixture of unwashed full kit and box room.

The announcement of Euro 2020 being postponed till next year, and the reasoning for it cited as “to help domestic competitions, currently on hold due to the COVID-19 emergency, to be completed”.

Seems to indicate the leagues will be resumed at some point over the summer. Can’t see how they would have made that announcement without consultation with the PL, L1, LL, SA and BL.

If so, correct decision in my opinion, certainly the fairest solution for all.
All well and good UEFA saying that but it will depend on individual Countries medical advice at the time.
They stated end of June. So if a particular Countries medical advisory say no, then what.
It will take one league, just one, to say they’re cancelling altogether on the grounds of safety for players and every league will follow

Not particularly, they both ensure an even keel, competitively, for everyone - at least on the basis of this season. Either the season is played out as set out at the start, when it's safe to do so, or the teams and the league reach an agreement to determine the outcome of the competition via a few play-off matches.

If you said to Villa and Bournemouth you're going down on the basis of things or you can play a game or 2 against your rivals to decide who goes down, they'd obviously prefer the latter. I'm sure it's one of many ideas being considered to resolve all this but would need to be properly mapped out and agreed upon beforehand.

I'm tired of the whole thing now and we need to concentrate on what is important.

I agree with @Keiran, just let Bournemouth and Villa play off for the title and we will respect the decision.

They have also said it needs to be done by the end of June. Which as you say is the correct position to take. We all know where we stand now.
I'm sure it's not just a coincidence that end of June correlates with the date that player's contracts usually end.

If players leave for pastures new, when the season is still going, I can imagine the clubs that lose the players will have a few words to say about the integrity of the competition.

Think that’s more of a hope rather than what will actually happen. Cash is the driving force as eufa rely on the leagues for finances.

However I wonder how they intend to deal with or have thought of how to get around, the social distancing rules? Besides the fact players should stay 2 metres apart what about changing rooms etc? By my reckoning you would have 11 players plus subs plus coaching staff plus medics/ancillary staff.......all in the same room/area.

Unless all the governments of the world and their advisers are wrong I think the money men may actually lose this little argument.

It was a very worrying statement really for anyone who's hoping to see a ball kicked again the season.

The 30th June deadline date is now there, that's set in stone as the target. This is obviously due to contracts finishing then, players contracts saying they're off on holidays etc, as many of us predicted would be an issue. It's quite clear that's completely unachievable and if anything this is just the seeds being sown for what's about to come.

I expect we may get a bit of lip service tomorrow to keep people hanging in there but in reality, it's probably going to get pulled very soon so the pathway forward is clear and everyone can start planning for the future.

R/s said to me this morning "Why can't they play the games behind closed doors and telivise them, I said because no one was interested, he said you bitters are all the same, I couldn't think of an answer.
