If this postponement of the league goes on for more than a couple of months I don't see how they can just restart it again. The whole thing would be a farce. When the league begins in August the results can be totally different to what they would be in say January. Teams like Bournemouth for example could be top by October, but we all know that's not gonna continue. The whole scenario would be bonkers. Fatigue starts to set in, unless you're juiced up, momentum changes. Players are playing with knocks. But when you start afresh, you're, well, fresh, both physically and mentally. It just wouldn't be the same. IMHO.
Realistically if you take bias out of it.
Why would you void a season that is more than 75 percent complete and can be completed in less than 4 weeks? Given the financial and legal issues.
The legal problems of voiding would be too vast. Teams have spent vast amounts on borrowed money from revenue streams that will not pay up if the season isnt finished I.e (tv rights, broadcasting money).
If they finish the games there are no arguments and no legal ramifications. Teams have already spent this years sponsorship money and therefore will operate at a loss and will fail FFP. Everton are currently already operating at a loss.
Next years season can be delayed as long as possible as there is no ruling in when it can start and no future money will be lost. Therefore, finishing this season will not impact the finances of next season one iota.
The Chinese Super League has already announced to restart their season and it was impacted greatly.
The agenda to void was only a pie in the sky agenda made by a manchester journalist. It's only been voided once prior to WW2 when only 3 league games had been played- this season is 29 games in. Everton won the league in 1914-15 in the outbreak of world war 1 and played every game.
I think we need to show a bit of class and stop using a deadly pandemic in the hope's of our closest rivals from losing the title.
I will be going into self isolation for the inevitable parade
The announcement of Euro 2020 being postponed till next year, and the reasoning for it cited as “to help domestic competitions, currently on hold due to the COVID-19 emergency, to be completed”.
Seems to indicate the leagues will be resumed at some point over the summer. Can’t see how they would have made that announcement without consultation with the PL, L1, LL, SA and BL.
If so, correct decision in my opinion, certainly the fairest solution for all.
The only people crying are you Kopite virgins, cos you know full well your supposed invincible quadruple season has already ended with you winning nothing.Dry your eyes lads. The season is getting completed. We should fear the worst
1. Because all clubs signed up to a 38 game competition. If it isn't completed, it isn't a valid competition.
2. The legal issues behind relegating teams would be considerably worse than your beloved Liverpool not being gifted a title for an incomplete season.
3. FFP will be suspended. Common sense states that the loss of earnings through competition suspension will obviously be taken into account.
4. Next season can't be delayed "as long as possible" because you then don't have a season. No club would sign up to a season truncated by three months or whatever if they had any sense, as it's an unacceptable physical risk to the playing staff for one, and there's hundreds of other reasons too - the main being the integrity of the league. You don't fix one season by breaking another.
5. Seasons have been cancelled for periods of war in the past - the amount of games played means the square sum of absolutely nothing.
Or, to be blunt...

PThey have also said it needs to be done by the end of June. Which as you say is the correct position to take. We all know where we stand now.
