I've just been thinking about this lately, Heysel was a disaster yes, and English fans were to blame, but how many incidents have the likes of Spanish, Italian and Russian clubs been involved in (although thankfully none with the deaths to my knowledge) and there hasn't been even a hint of a ban...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. All this "void it" [Poor language removed] is simply psychological violence. It's about getting into our heads and attempting to cause distress. Picture it as coercive control in domestic abuse. Not a hand is laid on the victim. The abuse is all psychological.

That said, we rob the abuser of their power by not being afraid of the asterisk. In fact, we adopt it. We make it our own by claiming it and making it mean whatever we want it to mean. We put the little beauty on banners and add our meaning.
