ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Probably the perfect result for us.

Performance wise - utterly destroyed.

However, they'll have to put out their best team against Fulham to try and get some confidence back...have to setup to win and be open against PSG.

Could this be the perfect opportunity for Moyes?
Totally agree. 4 or 5 nil, early goal for PSG and Slot may have started resting players. 2-0 keeps them in it

We’re not going to have a better opportunity to beat them. Though feels like we’ve said that before and got battered

If they don’t beat Fulham, get knocked out and then lose to us in a huge atmosphere at the first ever Hill Dickinson derby I don’t see any way they don’t fire Slot. Their fans won’t be able to cope.
I worry if he loses against Fulham they might pull the trigger and hope for a short term interim managerial bounce to get the atmosphere up against PSG and drag a performance out of them against us .

Given Liverpool’s luck, external influence and favourable bias, plus their allegiance with the devil, I’d narrow those odds considerably.

Of course you cant rule that out. But, ceteris paribus, Liverpool also lose the second leg heavily.

Given how the game panned out 2 nil was a great result for them. They could have been 4 or 5 down. This means they are still in with a shout. It will all depend on how PSG play in the away leg as lfc will be on the front foot pressing. Will Enrique play out from the back, allowing lfc the chance to win the ball and create panic and chances, or mix it up and go mid to long balls. Lfc have a history of turning things around at Anfield. Whether this team has the same quality/enthusiasm will be a big determining factor on the night as will how PSG play and if they take their chances.
How many times in the past have they had a great European result midweek before a derby? A lot of times.

What gets me is that they started quite well and there was nothing to be heard about Jota, as tragic as it was. It was only trotted out when they started losing.
When they were stringing together a load of wins at the start of the season, many of them won in the last minute, there were people on twitter etc saying it was Jota 'dragging them over the line' in games..

We’ve been there too many times where they’ve been out of form, got injuries or just bang average, and somehow we’ve contrived to not lay a glove on them.

We panic for absolutely no reason, the same as a lot of teams do against them.

Arsenal have given them 4 points. City almost gifted them a win at Anfield before they woke up. They’ve beaten Real Madrid and Atletico at Anfield. We did the exact same at Anfield, just walked around in an absolute daze for 20 minutes before realising they were absolutely crap and we could batter them.

We cannot see another timid Derby display this time. They’re absolutely shocking and need to be put to the sword.
