exactly, is it/should it be the start of the contact with the ball or the end of the contact of the kicking the ball? there could be 1/5th to 1/3rd second between those two points, indistinguishable to the camera, captured on a number of frames, but in the mean time, the attacking player could move from anon side to an offside position. What do you want to prove? pick your start point and bingo, fixing is fixed.VAR marginal offside in general is entirely farcical by its premise. We don’t have the tech to capture the exact frame of image at the exact moment the ball contact finishes. So it quite regularly gets things wrong, my biggest irk in football alongside the redundant nature of deciding added time.
The people using and communicating this tech don’t understand it - hence awful decisions like this. I still stick with the idea that 13 year old gamers would do a 1000% better job at the remote work
