ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Willing to be proven wrong but think the bit about caffeine is a load of crap. Pretty sure caffeine is not banned in any shape or form (for any sport) so what is it talking about caffeine supplements. There's an argument it should be for sure.

If you are actually asthmatic, the salbutinol (sic), in an inhaler, helps to widen the air access to the lungs. Ergo, you can breath better.

The theory is, if you are not asthmatic, using it would improve an already pretty normal air intake. So more oxygen, more energy, etc.

In a nutshell.

Pretty sure you are correct. There was a limit in the Olympics in the 80s and 90s, but no longer there afaik

It's a mostly legal performance booster so involving it like that is a bit meh.

Realistically salbutamol is also proven to have either negligible or no effect in several trials.

Whatever they're using wouldn't be in an inhaler that costs 2 quid in the pharmacy is what I mean. I've got asthma and if I use it it's not like I get a 2nd pair of legs under my new ones, which is the suspicious part. I'm more inclined to believe a-la Sharapova - meldonium, or something of the sort.

I tend to agree with that. Yet another final between a couple of English teams will not have a strong European appeal.
Real Madrid do have a massive world wide fan base just like the rs.

Back when it was actual title winners only, League (EC) or Cup (ECWC) it had much better character. I do remember Red Star v Maresilles in 91 which was a terrible match, but also some brilliant finals in the 70s with Ajax and Bayern.

It has become a money fest now.

The European Champions' League should mean exactly that

He’s got a point though. The best strikers in Europe are both mid 30s and playing for Madrid and Bayern. In the PL there’s Kane and a 37 year old Ronaldo and not much else.

It’s a poor era for strikers at the moment, very different to the mid 2000s when there was Henry Shearer Rooney Drogba Ronaldo Tevez etc. I mean even Everton had Yakubu, he’d be walking into a lot of PL sides today with ease.

Liverpool give up too many opportunities that aren’t finished by the opposition and still rely far too much on their goalkeeper. Van Dijk is often caught out of position when teams do score against them and more often than not is halfway up the pitch or out wide screaming at his centreback partner.

He’s a good player who is quick and physical and is good on the ball but I wouldn’t have him anywhere near the likes of Maldini Nesta Ramos Ferdinand Chiellini Bonucci Puyol etc. like nowhere near them. Jaap Staam was a better defender than him in my book.

None of the above however have a media following like Van Dijk does where several paid idiots will call him the best CB in the world or of all time after any game he plays. He’s not even the best CB in the league right now, I’m not convinced he’s even the best CB at Liverpool.
Couldnt disagree more on van Dijk. His absence last season shows how they fall apart without him. He’s genuinely amazing and up there with the best in the modern game.

But, but, but that would mean the RS would have only qualified once in about three decades ?

They fell apart last season because they were cycling off. You don’t go from two 95+ points season in a row, to losing 6 at home in a row, and then bounce straight back the season after with the only difference being your CB got injured.
