Player Valuation: £150m
...to KEIOC:

"On February 13, in a report of Mr Elstone's comments on the Everton website, we stated that the chief executive had accused KEIOC and the city council of colluding on a report designed to influence the club ballot on the ground move. In fact, Mr Elstone claimed there had been collaboration between the two parties. We wish to make clear that the ECHO was merely reporting his remarks and in no way endorsed them."

...and report on calls for a 'Question Time' style debate on the ground move issue

Liverpool Echo.co.uk - Everton FC - News - KEOIC call for debate on Everton's Kirkby stadium move

Why start a new thread for something as pathetic as this? Surely there a number of "OMG look what Everton have done now, Kirkby" threads you could have tagged this on the end of.

Clearly worst thread ever, i wouldnt even move it the ale house, i would just delete it.

Sorry but LOL -

Who's been twisting their thumbs? Because I dont know why they are apologising. All they're saying their is "we aplogise for reporting what was reported on the official website."

It sounds like someone or people have been causing a fuss and complaining to them by saying they're not being impartial so they had to put out a statement saying "Sorry, but we reported a fact its not our opinion please stop emailing us."

As for the "Question Time" debate on the issue - A) its a bit late. B) its been done about 3 times. C) What else is there to cover?

Ignore it and move on. Easy.

Why is it pathetic, btw? Local rag misrepresents the wording of Everton FC's chief executive to imply that Liverpool city council were in cahoots with a fan group to falsify alternatives in order to derail a multi million pound regeneration project.

I'd say there's a book and feature film in there.

the secretary of state for culture media and sport is i believe a member of keioc and totally against kirkby and has previously fallen out with bk about that very matter.

But what do the Echo have to apologise for again?

"We wish to make clear that the ECHO was merely reporting his remarks and in no way endorsed them."

They apologising to people who thought the Echo championed what Elstone said? Or are they saying they reported it wrong ie that Elstone said KEIOC and LCC were "collaborating" rather than "colluding on a report"

Either way, rubbish journolism and they have nothing to aplogise for unless someone has complained.

It's not semantics: two parties collaborating on something implies a common cause and joint objectives; collude means something possibly fraudulent is being cooked up to achieve that objective. Put that together in terms of the stadium issue and what you get is the proposition KEIOC/LCC's attempt to present an honest alternative solution to the one chosen by the club is really something underhand to derail the club's.

Mind you, you cant blame the Echo. They're just taking the lead set by Wynesss and then Elstone that alternatives were a 'white rabbit' pulled out the hat.

I would like a Question Time debate on it. Unfortunately Everton won't listen to us, they only interested in pacifying us, politely telling us to go away.

I accept that this move may go ahead, I know that they have a budget, but the the actual design itself is just thoughtless, and they don't care. It's as though those who want to move will accept anything.

Even if for some reason you thought it looked good, you should still be pushing for a better stadium. For example, it doesn't matter what the team is like on the pitch, you still want to improve it in the summer. Yet fans seem unwilling to want to push for a better stadium?

Everyone who wants to move should be looking at those plans and modifying them within reason.

But what hasnt already been asked or answered in the EGM, the enquiry, Elstone's phone in or the webchat (the last 2 all filtered I know)?

Its up to the government now.

Do politicians listen to stuff aired on Question Time then? For me it, and all other televised political debates, nearly always descend into populism and point scoring. King of the hill being PMQ's. Nothing of use ever comes from them, except perhaps to convince us proles that we have a say in the 'political process'.

Over the location yes I agree with you, but the design hasn't been discussed, while the club are waiting for the results they should be consulting with fans on modifying our wants for the stadium, so that if it gets the green light they can start with the amended plans straight away.

This stadium is for the rest of our lives, once it's built we can't modify it, but this aspect has been completely overshadowed by the location debate.

That my friend is a very logical point. Has anyone an actual link to the building designs or are these even in the public domain im not talking of what was submitted during the planning process.

Seems to me as most are judgeing the stadium astethics on a computor generated 2d picture.

That response doesn't surprise me given the lack of encouragement given to looking at the issue on this forum. :o
