2025/26 Dwight McNeil

He was gifted 2 fantastic chances in the box and did terribly with both of them.

He had a shot that hit the post and got out muscle off the ball fell over and got a foul for it.

Completed 1 forward pass in the whole game and had 5 defensive contributions.

It blows my mind that people are saying this guy is doing well
Set a low bar so now when he puts in any effort he looks better.

No, I just look at context. We have been relegation battles for a few seasons in a row with not a pot to piss in. This is one of the strongest PLs for a while now and we have moved ourselves to being a top 10 team with the 3rd best defence and the second best away record. Thats progress and it will continue if we all stay positive
Well without the points deduction dyche had us 13th 2 seasons
Ago and Moyes is a better manager and had 130mil to spend in the summer. By all accounts TFG are expecting mid table, what does
That look like in TFG’s world,
Who knows 12th to 8th?
We’re also 17th for shots and 15th for goals scored and it’s a day we’re out performing our expected points. We can all use stats to back up our own argument.

For me I don’t want him in control of transfers in the summer and he is a dour manager, the football 80% of time is poor, his subs are poor, usually negative and late. And this constant playing players out of position does me head in.
So personally I’d like a new manager who wants to play exciting football, will embrace young players and is on the same wavelength as the board and recruitment team.

My biggest gripe with Carlo kind of applies to Moyes here as well. When Carlo froze out Ant Man and killed his confidence, it absolutely bit him in the arse once injuries hit and we didn't have a replacement. Gordon was killing it in the preseason and he clearly went on to prove his worth at Newcastle.

I understand the gripes with Dwight. Most of his problems come from him refusing to use his right foot and being very slow. He makes mistakes, but he so often looks like the only player that actually knows what to do in attacking positions when he is confident. I wish our managers in general were less arrogant about their squad selections and picked based on needs or opponent. It is very hard to be a top club if you can't get a rotation right. Injuries and downed tools kill you.

Absolute shocker this. I was terrified when we didn't get shot, that Moyes would be playing him ahead of younger talent and, worse still, because Moyes has very low standards when it comes to certain types lf player, that we may end up stuck with him for longer.

I think the way the club have put him front and centre and pushed so much praise on him for being something other than utterly abject.
