All I was saying is you seem to be missing the point that they're actually making - that they don't believe he's very good in the grand scheme of things but he is important to us as a team. It's similar to when Dyche first came in and Doucoure was a key player, I think Doucoure is awful and always have, but there was denying we were better with him than without him at that time. People are just saying the same thing about McNeil.
No, I'm not missing the point at all. What I'm doing is challenging it, and with evidence. If someone is performing in the top 1-2% of Premier League players in his given role, then not rating him, or not thinking he's any good, has little credibility. What you're then left with is people basically disliking him on a very subjective level, prejudicial even. People do have the right to take that stance, but it can't in all truth be taken seriously.

What's the deal with this lad?

If he is sulking over his Mrs, get rid.

We need warriors moving forward.

….if I remember rightly, the poor girl was very seriously ill last year and had to undergo significant surgery. He played through that time (maybe scoring the winner at Forest) so I presume this absence is down to injury. He’s clearly being missed.

He's out with a niggly knee injury that the club is being careful with, it's pretty weird that people delve into his private life and speculate that he's not playing due to mental health issues. Even more weird that when it gets repeated enough times people start discussing it as if it's fact and not a figment of someone's imagination.
Welcome to Mumsnet. Why not introduce yourself in the new signings section?
