He's a RB, FFS.

I know this, but none of the other players being tipped to play RM out of current squad (Naismith, Barkley, Osman) are natural RM's either. Obviously, we haven't had the chance to see if Naismith can play there yet, so opinions right now are by no means final. Given our situation, though, we do have to be realistic and consider all possible solutions. Coleman at RM is one of those solutions regardless of his natural position.

Dundee United start their next week don;t they? OR very soon anyway so they were bound to be ahead of in terms of match fitness etc, plus we didn't have a full team.

Still definitely going to win the league.

The whole Coleman-is-a-right-back thing is really nothing other than "he is young, fast and athletic, but lacks technical skill needed to play RM in the Prem, so he must be a RB". He may or may not be a Premiership right back, but its not going to be based on what we have seen of him at RM. The positions are not so similar that a RB is simply an offensively challenged RM.

or that is the position he grew up playing, i agree the skill sets are completely different, the only thing the two positions have in common is they are both on the right, if Coleman has another full season out of position, while those two abominations share the rb role it will destroy him

Coleman played right back in Ireland, for our reserves when he first started out here and even on loan at Blackpool.

He played RB in ireland, when in the reserves and when at blackpool. It's not like I pulled it out of nowhere. Even Moyes sees it as his natural position.

For the record I'd love to see Seamus at RB and I think that's the only position he'll ever be Everton standard* in. As much as he's clearly trying to add variation to his game, I do not think he has the assets to be a winger.

That's no slight on Seamus. We know how good Baines is but I'd say the same about him.

*well, ideal Everton standard
