DUNDEE UNITED VS EVERTON

Why is it sh1t?

The team needs new faces to give them a lift. Every Evertonian to a man knew that last summer, it was posted on here tons of times, don't pretend otherwise. The bloody team said so themselves in interviews!!! Then the loss of Arteta was just demoralising, one of our best players who made our midfield tick for the previous 7 years, being replaced by two loans, a nutter bombed out of Real and an untried grock from Argentina.

That's also a load of crap about Moyes beasting them and you know it. Where are the players whinging to the press about our training methods? Oh right, yeah, there are none.

In the 2008/2009 season we won 2 games from our first 7 then from Jan onwards we got beat 3 times in 24 games,Going into the 2009/2010 season we got beat 3 times in our first 4 games then from Jan onwards we got beat 4 times in 23 games,Go into the 2010/2011 season we won 4 out of our first 12 games the from Jan onwards we got beat 5 times from 23 games

So your telling me for those 3 seasons we started poorly yet from around Jan onwards finished stongly because we did not sign anbody in the transfer window? It couldent have anything to do with what goes on pre season? Because looking at it there is a trend of starting like relegation fodder and finishing like a team fighting for europe

But no mate I agree its because we sold Arteta in 2011 that we started like a sack of sh1t in 2008

We started sh1t in 2008 if you recall because there was a ton of speculation over Moyes position, as he hadn't signed a new contract and was being heavily linked with the Newcastle job.

The pre-seasons when we've got players signed early and the squad settled, and there's been no dark clouds hanging over the club, we've done alright (2006/2007, 2007/2008) - the additions of Jags & Lescott, then Yakubu following summer. Big investment reaped decent results.

At the end of the day, if the pre-season fixtures were so easy, we'd be tonking the likes of Bury, and MLS teams, and mid-ranking Euro teams at home. We're not. We're generally getting hard fought results against them. So this idea that we play even better teams than we currently are makes very little sense at all. If you want glamour friendlies, well you're not getting them. Glamour friendlies are agreed as part of sponsorship deals, at the whim of tv companies, as marketing exercises. You need to be regularly in the CL to be invited to these type of tournaments. It's a total myth that the quality of pre-season opposition hampers us, not least when our pre-seasons the last few years have been identical to the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea, both of whom went on MLS tours in the U.S.

Jesus now its because Moyes was linked to Newcastle, So as long as nobody leaves the club or is linked away or a rumour starts that Moyes is going to Blackpool why might start well?

And who the **** mentioned glamour friendlies? I just want the team to have competitve games leading upto the first game of the season, Not playing Preston,Bury,Dundee Utd etc, There are plenty of mid table German,Italian,Dutch,French and Spainish teams who would give the team a better test

But you no what you may be right the teams we play might have nothing to do with how slowly we start,Maybe its down to Moyes pre season training

All set to be a battle of the sh*t sleeves

However, looks like the long sleeved version will look alright

Thank god we're playing Morecambe, they'll be a much harder test than these Scottish teams, it's a joke we're playing SPL teams, non-league standard.

Seriously......

Before i start I have a foot in both camps here, but Scottish Football is not the backwater you think!

OK, it’s not what is once was, but don’t demean these teams. Rangers and Celtic are not “Scottish Footballâ€￾ Dundee United and Motherwell are both in Europe next year and may just surprise you.

Bonus points for anyone who knows where Big Dunc and Andy Gray started their careers?

Still think the standards crap?
