Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Whether or not you find the economic burden of funding people who can't provide in a new country compelling or not, it's an entirely coherent argument.

Note that I'm not advocating for truly closed borders, I'm advocating for controlled migration that prioritizes the needs of the host country and the neediest of those who would migrate to it.

I believe it's a well established fact that 'normal' immigration is good for an advanced economy (normal - as in not a deluge of war refugees or such like).

An advanced economy needs people prepared to roll up their sleeves and take on tough menial jobs for a minimum wage. This is where migrants generally get their start on the ladder. I

Haha, what?

Is it your position that the more American thing to do is to prioritize the needs of non-Americans over citizens?

I'm not an American so may have this wrong but wasn't your country entirely developed by immigrants from the days of wooden boatloads of protestant extremists to paddies in the NYPD?!? And probably a few hundred million in between?!

A) Even if your comparison to US cities were fair, I'm not sure how this is relevant. We have enough crime in the United States, I'm not sure why more crime along our southern border is somehow made less notable by virtue of that. Of course, with very few exceptions, we do not have anything resembling the decapitations, mutilations and related attacks we see from the cartels. We don't have open war on journalists and public officials.

B) Of course they do. The idea that I'm demonizing all Mexicans because of the cartels is silly.

If you support a wall you are demonizing Mexicans IMO.

Combining DACA and border security are being done in combination for political purposes and because it makes logical sense to seek to fix one of the problems giving rise to the need for DACA when making a permanent move on DACA.

Democrats have made the political decision to oppose the right's preference to solve the border security issue before granting amnesty. Republicans have made the political decision not to grant any form of amnesty without combining that with border security.

As you know, taking two things that are separate but related (closely or loosely) and demanding both be addressed independently is not entirely reasonable or logical, and may, in fact, be unreasonable or illogical.
I have absolutely no idea why you wrote this.

Silly belief to hold, IMO, but I'm sure you have your reasons.
Of course it is not a silly belief. Building a wall on the Mexican border is in response to a belief that illegal immigration is threatening to the United States, is it not? It is being sold as a means to stop drugs, crime, rape, etc that comes via Mexicans who cross the border into to this country. That is the very definition of demonization.

Oversimplification of a huge contingent of people isn't productive. Given the appropriate scorn you and others have shown toward demonization of Mexicans, I would think that should be apparent.

The wall is being built to control access to the US by our southern border. Trump has sold that as a means to stop crime, drugs, rape, etc. He's also sold it as a means to preserve the powers given to Congress and the Executive, to preserve America's sovereignty, to preserve America's resources and to benefit the state and local governments saddled by the costs of illegal immigration.

The wall is a tool. You're welcome to feel that it's some symbol of the demonization of Mexicans. If your argument is that the wall, and supporting the wall, is inherent demonization of Mexicans, I find that rather childish.

Maybe I'm confused then. You indicated, I think, that one of my immigration priorities was unAmerican. My stated priorities were:

1) What's in the best interest of the US
2) Prioritizing those migrants who are most in need of our help

Yea, I think a merit based immigration system is unAmerican. Flies in the face of ‘the land of opportunity’
