Perhaps. If Clinton had been elected, there would be no doubt this would be the order of the day, especially when approved by the electorate.

Here the thing, though. Where will Trump find his minions within the bureaucratic state, legs? 90+ percent of those folks are progressive democrats, which is exactly why Obama could get the IRS to do his bidding while Nixon could not. If you've lived or worked within government or education, you know I am right. You can't do this with a tiny cabal and maintain omerta. You can when most folks are true believers, and have jobs and pensions to protect from any dreaded cuts in government services. The whole culture they live in sees this kind of thing as the equivalent of doing God's work. They did this to get rid of Scott Warren (my guy, way back when) and it wound up getting them Donald Trump in the White House. All this and they still lost. Not only are they crooked and ruthless, they're incompetent.

DOJ investigators believe the leak to the Guardian was calculated to attempt to influence a U.S. Supreme Court decision on whether to take up John Doe prosecutors request for review of the state court’s decision shutting down the investigation – and whether they could hold onto the possessions they illegally took. The Guardian hit piece, with hundreds of pages of cherry-picked court documents, was published just days before the court unanimously rejected the case.

Sloppy disregard for the security of the court-sealed John Doe documents – at the GAB and at the state Supreme Court office – left the DOJ unable to identify beyond a reasonable doubt who had access to the records, when the records where accessed or “who stole them,” according to the report.

Here’s the scary footnote to a frightening report on government abuse: The Department of Justice cannot assure any John Doe II or III target that information illegally seized from them “will not be published on the Internet or by The Guardian at some future date.”

“Nor can DOJ assure any person whose information was gathered that they will not suffer from identity theft or face other adverse consequences as a result of the irresponsible way that GAB handled personal information,” the report states.

Rather than change the bureaucracy to make it work for him, he seems intent on pulling it apart. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater if you will.
Either way, blaming a perceived progressive bureaucracy for the ascent of Trump is pretty lazy.

can't say i'm surprised. there are people in his own administration openly questioning the logic of the jerusalem decision.

Also, very interesting his choice of words on the decision. All about "I believe the time has come......" I truly believe he made this decision mostly on his own, regardless of its effect and what experts had to say on the matter. It's an example of exactly how we think things are in the administration.

Scary times indeed.

I agree that Clinton could well have had some of the same impulses, there is certainly some history of that.

I suppose where we disagree Mezz is your belief in the “means and opportunity” of being able to do such acts - I just don’t think that even if a large bulk of the beaurocracy is liberal Democrats that automatically means they will do actions that are clearly immoral.

After all I’d assume that you would say that even though the N Carolina GOP deliberately targeted their voter laws to disenfranchise African Americans you shouldn’t automatically assume that all Republicans would do the same (btw none of those guys were charged with illegal or unethical behavior either as far as I’m aware). Yet you seem to be making the leap that because some State Dems did an action, federal Dems would have no moral scruples either.

I agreed that there is polarisation and it is getting worse but I just don’t like assuming that the bad faith has gone so deep that a significant number will break the rules in such a way, on either side.

California's had a history of fires. To say peo people's hpmes being burnt down is due to trump and his government is ludicrous. Are the previous administrations responsible for the damage to homes etc during their terms ?

Lets see he and his administration favour fossil fuels and business. Now allowing them to take over protected land and drill for fossil fuels.

He has removed any green and protection law Obama got in to help protect and look after parks and land.

He has cut funding to the EPA and put a man in charge who hates the EPA

Not directly responsible but those who deny that the weather and climate are changing are never going to listen to reason, analysis and educated research into helping prevent massive loss and protecting the future.

Did you know there are at least 5 types of trees and brush that do not belong in this state. They were transplanted in during the boom and building of Los Angeles and then became a mainstay.

Local governments in many cities wanted the government to help fund the removal of trees and brush that ignites very rapidly but his government have gone and slashed all budgets that relates to the environment and the cleanup and protection of.

The federal government has also slashed the budget for firefighters, although he will make you believe when he gave that funding when the fires hit up north it was massive relief. It actually helps but its not even half of what they should have given because they have starved the states that burn funding for fires considering they happen every year.

Its much like your Australian government continually allowing people to build in areas that catch fire a lot. Considering one of the Aboriginal gods is a tree on fire maybe they should have listened many years ago but nope still haven't learned any lessons.

It starts there. If you have a government who doesn't care about the climate and ideas to protect the masses when the fires do start what chance have we?

Well when people joining and only post in one particular thread or in a non Everton based thread on an Everton forum it does look suspicious and naturally people wonder if you are one of the many multi s littered across this forum. Hence the reaction you get from some.

When you make a profile private that does too. Nothing stalkerish about wanting to see if one would waste breath and typing a response to someone if they are trying purposely to wind people up. There are plenty out there still

What makes it worse for you is the fact your sole focus and concentration is on the most controversial topic on here.
