You have no need to defend verreauxi, he's a smart guy, who seems happier throwing in cheap, incorrect, personal shots than actually debating. I'm not looking for validation, I'm happy with my views.....

But you're not debating. You haven't even touched what I pointed out to you twice now: your inane invocation of ISIS into the "take a knee" discussion. You haven't tried to even defend your "reasoning" here.

I know. There is a difference in approach between you and I. You see, having spent a great many years receiving 100+ emails per day, some direct, some copied, containing financial, strategic and engineering issues, some requiring approval and others of a political nature, time management becomes key. I'm used to directing, making decisions and ensuring they are acted upon. The level and depth of detail that you would wish, was just physically beyond me, because try as I might there were still only 24 hours before the next 100+ emails arrived. In between all of this I also had reviews and other issues to deal with while travelling the globe. It's a cultural difference between us, which you have interpreted as intellectual, but we probably have more in common than not......

See that must be your superior knowledge and brain again assuming and jumping to conclusions.

Who said i was defending him? I was merely making an observation that i notice from most of your posts. I could have replied to just about anyone of your posts whether it be a response to me or anyone else.

It's just that you did exactly the same earlier. If I'm wrong then I apologise. However I cannot escape from my experience and knowledge and for me and indeed yourself it's just who we are. Understanding plays a large part in relationships and communications......

What?

Not sure i once ever talked about my past or stuff i did to influence a point i made.

Other than noting where i live and maybe something i observed i think you maybe wrong on this one.

No, I meant jumped in on a reply I made to verreauxi, sorry for the poor English......

Wtf did it take so long?! At least it is going now but honestly why it wasn't sent the minute the extent of the power & water issues was discovered confuses me and a bit odd didn't get sent to Keys or USVI after Irma.

I agree they should have been manned and at the very least headed that way. Luckily its based in Virginia and not San Diego or somewhere else on the west coast so the trip won't take as long.

I see.

It doesn't mean i am defending anyone in particular, it may appear that way too you but it wasn't the intention. As its a forum and your comment was not exclusive between the two of you, i obviously saw something you said worth commenting on then and well that's just the case.

Verreauxi clearly doesn't need my help when it comes to rebutting your posts that's for sure.

I think it's not a case of just sending a ship, but of assessing, obtaining and transferring the kit, manpower, and the actual aid provisions required. The UK did similar in sending out HMS Ocean tbf........

This is true but a) it is hurricane season so a pretty good time of year to be anticipating issues b) this is the third major hurricane to hit in the past few weeks and their tracks have indicated bad damage to several major population centers, if they hadn't stocked up as a general seasonal rule then those tracks would have indicated it was a good idea to be prepared c) even ignoring all of that there should have been better communication that it was being prepped to reassure people that aid was on the way - minimizing panic is a not insignificant factor in relief efforts.

Good point.

I had found an interesting piece on it. Here is a quote about readiness

The Comfort is categorized as a 'Ready III status," said Boswell. "We are expected to 'throw the lines' and be underway in three to five days. For us, the Comfort is always underway in three days or sooner, if possible. In a nut-shell, The Comfort is the biggest, baddest medical platform in the Department of Defense arsenal and in the world."

I guess to linekerslegs point they knew it was going to have devastating affects last week so they could have had it on its way then.

I can't disagree with that......

That's the point though, it's like a floating hospital, but maybe only a small portion of that capability is required, so if you are sending it to a zone with no housing, little food and no water, the provisions have to be changed to equip it for the task.....I wouldn't point fingers at them really......
