Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Sorry, you think intolerance has only come about since Trump took office?

You think my dislike for the majority of the GOP policies are because of Trump?

No.

The GOP as a whole and their policies I do not agree with. Trump comes in to upset the political establishment, and tries going for even more off-the ball crazy stuff than the GOP ever dreamed of doing. And the GOP for the most part have just been along for the ride, surfing the wave of popularity that Trump generated. But there is no energy left in that wave and the ride is now over.

I mean he has pretty much failed at everything that needed to go for a vote since his inauguration. The only things that he has got through have been Executive Orders. And those are getting shot down in court as well.

Which is fair enough. But you mentioned civil rights, now by my reckoning there have been 15-16 Democratic Presidents since the civil war. So what has happened ? What Civil rights were put in place by Carter, Clinton and Obama that Trump has removed?. What civil rights are now demanded that Obama couldn't have put in place ?

I understand the policies bit, either of war or of social care, but before anyone can criticise the current holder of the office, just ask the question 'what did the previous guy fail to do'........

Implementation of voter ID. Making it so you can only get Voter ID from one location in the county....but only on the 3rd Tuesday afternoon after Mercury is in retrograde (obviously I have embellished that slightly.......Mercury doesn't have to be in retrograde).

Health Care.

Net Neutrality.

Those are just a few of the areas that Republicans are trying to remove/replace with laws that benefit them as a party by either selling themselves to businesses or alienating citizens of their rights.

Oh, I can't remember which GOP member it was who was interviewed about millions losing health care coverage but his basic solution to them was:

"Stop being poor"

but before anyone can criticise the current holder of the office, just ask the question 'what did the previous guy fail to do'........

No. You don't get to use that. "Oh but the other guy........"

That is like your kids saying "I only hit him because he hit me"

Pretty petty angle for an argument.

Trump tried to stop legal green card holder from returning to the country based on their religion/place of birth.

He has said that transgender troops should not serve in the military due to their sexual orientation.

And he has just said on national tv that a bunch of guys standing around holding torches, singing "Jews will not replace us" and making nazi salutes ar not all bad. Heck, even the guy who appears to accelerated into a group of people isn't guilty of domestic terrorism.

I'm not quite sure why I can't criticise the current holder of the office for any of these things Pete.

There's no defence for this sort of thought, but is this what was meant by civil liberties. Is this why confederate statues are being pulled down.......

Tbf, it's quite a decent list, but I am still at a loss as to why a a statue of Lee has to be pulled down to assist these civil liberties.....

You have latched onto one thing, and you won't let go.

The confederate statues represent a dark time in the history of the US. One that shouldn't be glorified. Does Germany still have statues of Hilter up?

Yes it was important history and shouldn't be forgotten, but it should not (and isn't) be celebrated.

Bigger picture Pete. Bigger picture.

The picture you either don't see, or flatly refuse to see.

Not really. He's been in office for a year. Obama was there for 8 years, Legs has produced a decent list of liberties that were removed, but neither of you have addressed why a statue of Lee gets torn down in the name of 'civil liberties' that could not have been addressed during Obamas period in office. I'm sorry if I seem a bit slow on the uptake here, but I must be missing something in the argument.......

You have completely missed the argument. The statues of General Robert E. Lee are symbolic and really don't have a place in today's world.
