More specifically, he wanted Comey under his control and was manipulatively doing that in telling him (even if he used the word 'hope') to drop the investigation into Flynn. Wheeling and dealing.

That is the way they will spin it but I doubt they are really happy with this testimony, they will focus on the "no investigation of collusion by Trump" but they should be nervous that they have now opened themselves up to investigation of obstruction.
McCain is seeing particularly rambling and unfocused though.

Isnt it mad that Trump has yet to fill something like 50% of the positions in his government. You think he would be concerned with being massively understaffed.
