I was staggered watching that chap from Luxembourg I think having a good snigger when Trump made his comments about NATO non payers. Luxembourg contribute the lowest % to the defence pot because they are in the centre of Europe and expect everyone else to defend them. If I were Trump I'd throw a bit of a tantrum and insist they were thrown out of NATO, it would wipe the smile off his smug face and maybe make everyone else think he's serious about this. The Europeans are taking the mick really......

But that, and media intrusion which has been going on for years on both sides of the aisle, hasn't stopped many people from applying for posts like these - indeed it didn't stop the 8 from originally agreeing to being interviewed. The Dems ran a dubious candidate, and had their best showing in 17 years. And a large share of the voting took place before the assault on the reporter, through early balloting.

Republicans were scared enough of the outcome to have flooded the race with last-minute panic spending, about four times more than the Democrats spent.

The Democrats are looking competitive in areas that have been unthinkable for years. It's still too early to say, but apart from taking away voters' health care, or access to food, I'm not sure Donald has many plans in the pipeline to secure their loyalties.
